Field Service Management Software · Field service for trades
Housecall Pro
by Housecall Pro
Cloud home-service software for trades contractors covering scheduling, dispatch, GPS route optimisation, estimates, invoicing, payments, a customer portal and recurring service plans. The only product in this category that states its pricing currency.
What it is
Housecall Pro is the contractor primary operational system rather than a scheduling layer, covering scheduling and dispatch with technician location, GPS route optimisation, estimates with a sales proposal tool, invoicing, payments, a customer portal and recurring service plans. It sells self-serve to small US home-service businesses. The integrations marketplace tells you exactly who the buyer is: 30 named apps weighted towards lead sources like Angi, Thumbtack, Yelp and Google Local Services, payroll via Gusto, and field photo tooling like CompanyCam, rather than ERP connectors.
It is the only product researched in this entire category that explicitly states its pricing currency. The page says all prices are in USD and are exclusive of sales tax, which removes the inference every other published-price vendor here forces on a buyer. Basic is 59 per month billed annually or 79 monthly for 1 user. Essentials is 149 or 189 for 5 users. Max is 299 or 329 for 8 users plus 35 per month per additional user. Card processing is advertised as low as 2.59 percent and bank payments carry a 1 percent fee. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card, cancellable anytime, giving full access to the MAX plan. Several headline figures on the page are promotional first-period offers, for example 26 per month for one month on Basic and Essentials and 99 per month for three months on Max, which should not be read as the entry price.
Offline is narrow and the limits matter, so they are recorded verbatim. Jobs are the only area of the app where data can be stored, and the job must have been opened while online. Cached fields are date and time, duration, customer name and address, customer history, line items, private notes, job tags, checklists and attachments, plus the Upcoming Job and Open Work dashboard cards. Navigation to notes, checklists and attachments is available only if previously viewed on the device. Crucially, editing without cell service or WiFi is not supported at this time. Cached data is also evicted oldest-first past an undisclosed limit, and only previously-opened jobs can be clicked from the schedule. This is read-only offline caching, not offline working, and it should not be read as parity with Praxedo or Skedulo.

Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.

| Published price | USD 59 per month, Basic plan, 1 user, billed annually |
| Note | CURRENCY IS STATED, NOT INFERRED. The page says all prices are in USD and are exclusive of sales tax. This is the only product in this category that states its currency. Published tiers: Basic 59 billed annually or 79 monthly, 1 user. Essentials 149 annual or 189 monthly, 5 users. Max 299 annual or 329 monthly, 8 users, plus 35 per month per additional user, with a Book Demo call to action rather than self-serve checkout. Other fees: card processing as low as 2.59 percent, bank payments 1 percent. Add-ons listed without prices: CSR AI, Sales Proposal Tool, Payroll, Accounting. Free trial is 14 days with no credit card, cancellable anytime, giving full access to the MAX plan. PAGE QUALITY CAVEAT: strikethrough formatting was lost in text extraction, so the reading that 79, 189 and 329 are the standard monthly rates and the lower figures are promotions is an inference from layout rather than a verbatim statement, and some monthly placeholders rendered unfilled. Promotional first-period pricing of 26 per month for one month on Basic and Essentials and 99 per month for three months on Max is time-limited and is not the entry price. free_version is recorded no on the basis of a complete published plan set with no free tier and an explicitly time-limited trial; if an explicit vendor denial is required, downgrade to unknown. |

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- The currency is explicitly stated, with the page saying all prices are in USD and exclusive of sales tax, alongside monthly and annual figures and included user counts for every tier. verified source
- A 14-day free trial with no credit card and full access to the MAX plan, cancellable anytime. verified source
- Recurring Service Plans give genuine maintenance-contract support, which many small-contractor products lack. verified source
- Broad small-business trades marketplace of 30 named apps including lead sources Angi, Thumbtack, Yelp and Google Local Services, payroll via Gusto and field photo tooling. verified source
Limitations
- Offline support is read-only and pre-cached only. Jobs are the only area where data is stored, the job must have been opened while online, and editing without cell service or WiFi is not supported, so crews cannot complete work offline. verified source
- The QuickBooks integration is stated as QuickBooks Desktop on the integrations page, syncing invoice data one way, and Xero is not listed at all. verified source
- The top published plan includes 8 users with 35 per month per additional user and routes to Book Demo rather than self-serve checkout, so larger teams are sales-gated. verified source
- Several headline figures on the pricing page are promotional first-period offers, which makes the real ongoing cost harder to read at a glance. editorial
Who it suits
Organisation sizes: Small
Good fit: small US home-service businesses, from a single operator up to about 8 users on the top published plan. It is the easiest product in this category to budget for, because the currency is stated rather than inferred and both monthly and annual figures are printed with included user counts. Recurring Service Plans give genuine maintenance-contract support that many small-contractor products lack, which matters if a meaningful share of your revenue is maintenance agreements rather than break-fix. The lead-generation integrations are a real advantage for businesses that buy work from Angi, Thumbtack or Google Local Services.
Poor fit: crews that genuinely work in dead zones. Offline is read-only caching of previously-opened jobs, and Housecall Pro states plainly that editing without connectivity is not supported, so a technician cannot complete work offline. Also a poor fit where you need Xero, since it is not listed at all, or QuickBooks Online, since the integrations page specifies QuickBooks Desktop with one-way invoice sync. Teams above 8 users are sales-gated and per-seat costs climb at 35 per month each. Buyers needing custom integration should note no API or webhooks are mentioned anywhere and no developer portal was found, so Zapier appears to be the extension path.
Typical use cases: residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical contractors running maintenance plans; small businesses that need customers to approve estimates and pay invoices themselves through a portal; and owner-operators who buy leads from marketplaces and want those flowing into the same system as the schedule.

Frequently asked questions
Basic is 59 per month billed annually or 79 monthly for 1 user, Essentials 149 or 189 for 5 users, and Max 299 or 329 for 8 users plus 35 per month per additional user. The page states that all prices are in USD and are exclusive of sales tax, which makes this the only product in this category whose currency is stated rather than inferred.
Only partly, and this is important. Jobs opened while online are cached for viewing, but Housecall Pro states that editing without cell service or WiFi is not supported at this time, and only previously-opened jobs are reachable from the schedule. Cached data is also evicted oldest-first past an undisclosed limit. Treat this as read-only offline, not offline working.
It syncs invoice data to QuickBooks Desktop. The integrations page does not list QuickBooks Online or Xero, so if either is your system of record, confirm support directly before buying.
