IFS Cloud EAM
by IFS
IFS's enterprise asset management on the IFS Cloud platform, covering the asset lifecycle in asset-intensive industries, with the same functionality across cloud and on-premises.
What it is
IFS Cloud EAM is the Tier 1 end of a three-product portfolio. IFS also owns Ultimo, acquired in 2022 and still sold separately, and Copperleaf for asset investment planning. The first job in any IFS evaluation is working out which of the three you are actually being offered, because they overlap and the sales conversation does not always make the distinction.
The platform case is genuinely strong. IFS Cloud runs as IFS-managed cloud, customer-managed cloud or on-premises with the same functionality across all three and the ability to move between them, which is a sharper deployment story than most competitors can tell. The API surface is properly documented, with OData projections, an API Explorer and OpenAPI specifications.
We have to be straight about the evidence here: ifs.com refused automated access throughout this pass, so ten of the thirteen capability rows below are unverified. That reflects a blocked website, not a thin product. Treat this profile as the weakest-evidenced of the enterprise group and verify capability claims directly with IFS.
Capabilities
Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.
| Capability | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Predictive or condition-based maintenance Condition monitoring or failure prediction functions in the product itself. | Yes | Real-time condition monitoring, anomaly detection and predictive maintenance, per the vendor. source |
| Mobile technician app A native mobile app for technicians, with offline capability where stated. | Yes | The vendor describes offline-first mobile execution. source |
| Documented API A publicly documented API, which is what makes every other integration possible. | Yes | OData REST projections with an API Explorer, OpenAPI specifications and OAuth2. Note the standard APIs are atomic, so a structured inbound message needs decomposing. source |
| Asset register and hierarchy Parent-child asset structure with locations and equipment, not a flat list. | Not verified | |
| Work order management Creation, assignment, approval and closure of work orders. | Not verified | |
| Preventive maintenance scheduling Calendar, meter and usage-based schedule generation. | Not verified | |
| Spare parts and inventory Storerooms, stock levels, reorder points and parts issued to work orders. | Not verified | |
| Procurement and purchase orders Purchase requisitions and purchase orders raised inside the system. | Not verified | |
| Asset lifecycle and cost tracking Cost accumulated against an asset from acquisition through to retirement. | Not verified | |
| Multi-site operation Multiple facilities, plants or sites in one instance with separable data. | Not verified | |
| Contractor management External contractors and vendor workflows, not just internal technicians. | Not verified | |
| IoT and BMS integration Sensor, condition or building-management-system data reaching the system. | Not verified | |
| Maintenance KPI reporting MTBF, MTTR, downtime, schedule compliance and maintenance cost reporting. | Not verified |

| Note | No price is published, and we could not confirm whether IFS publishes one anywhere: every ifs.com page refused automated access during this pass with HTTP 429. For the sibling product, Ultimo, the vendor publishes editions with "price on request" and stated user minimums. |

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- The same functionality across IFS-managed cloud, customer-managed cloud and on-premises, with the ability to move between them. verified source
- Properly documented OData and REST APIs with an API Explorer and OpenAPI specifications. verified source
- Offline-first mobile and vendor-stated predictive maintenance on condition data. verified source
- Full-lifecycle positioning from design to decommissioning on one platform, with Copperleaf available for asset investment planning. editorial
Limitations
- The standard APIs are atomic, so a structured message from another system must be decomposed into several calls through middleware or a service bus. That is a real integration cost to budget for. verified source
- A three-way EAM portfolio, IFS Cloud EAM, Ultimo and Copperleaf, means buyers must first work out which IFS product they are evaluating. editorial
- Most capability detail could not be verified: every ifs.com page refused automated access during this pass. We have recorded those rows as unverified rather than guessing, and recommend confirming them with IFS directly. editorial
Who it suits
Organisation sizes: Enterprise
Suited to asset-intensive enterprise operations in energy, utilities, construction and facilities, which are the sectors IFS names, and particularly where deployment flexibility matters: the same functionality on IFS-managed cloud, your own cloud or your own hardware, with a route between them, is rare.
For smaller and faster rollouts, IFS itself points to Ultimo rather than IFS Cloud EAM, and that is the honest read of the portfolio. If a quick mid-market deployment is the requirement, start there.

Frequently asked questions
They are two separate products from the same owner. IFS Cloud EAM is the Tier 1 enterprise offering on the IFS Cloud platform; Ultimo was acquired in 2022, targets small and mid-market buyers and deploys faster. IFS lists both, plus Copperleaf, side by side. Establish which one a quote covers before comparing it with anything else, and see Ultimo vs Maximo for where the lighter product lands.
Yes. IFS states that IFS Cloud runs as IFS-managed cloud, customer-managed cloud or on-premises, with the same functionality across all three and the ability to move between them. Note that is a platform-level statement rather than an EAM-specific one, so confirm it for the EAM scope you are buying.
Because ifs.com blocked our automated requests on every attempt during this review. Rather than fill the gaps from memory or from review sites, we left them unverified and said why. Every "Not verified" row here means we did not check it, not that the product lacks it.
