Octave Attune EAM vs IFS Cloud EAM

Two enterprise EAM platforms that rarely get compared directly but should be: both target asset-intensive industries, both have had recent corporate upheaval, and both are more opaque about capability than a buyer would like.

The main differences

Procurement. Attune EAM is clearly ahead. Requisitions, quotes and purchase orders are documented in the product with a SAP-certified S/4HANA integration. We found no procurement documentation for IFS Cloud EAM at all, so it shows as unverified.

Mobile. Both claim offline. Attune EAM's is documented in detail in its G-Cloud listing, including that the desktop client requires continuous connectivity while the mobile app does not. IFS describes "offline-first execution" on its blog. Attune's is the better-evidenced claim.

APIs. Both document properly. Attune offers REST and SOAP with OpenAPI and a sandbox; IFS offers OData projections with an API Explorer, but with the atomic-call constraint noted above. Attune is the easier integration target.

Corporate stability. Neither is settled. Attune EAM has changed owner twice in five years and its documentation still sits on Hexagon domains. IFS acquired Ultimo in 2022 and now runs three overlapping asset products, which creates roadmap-positioning risk rather than ownership risk. Pick which kind of uncertainty you prefer.

Evidence. Attune EAM's capability detail came largely from vendor-authored AWS and G-Cloud listings rather than its own site. IFS blocked us entirely. Neither profile here rests on the vendor's own product pages as much as it should.

Not verified means the capability has not been checked for that product. It does not mean the product lacks it. Blank cells and unverified rows are never counted as a "no".

Strengths and limitations

Drawn from each product's own profile, where every item is labelled a verified fact or an editorial judgement.

Which to choose

Choose Octave Attune EAM for procurement depth, documented offline mobile, linear and geospatial assets, and the easier integration surface. On published evidence it is the stronger of the two.

Choose IFS Cloud EAM if you are inside the IFS estate already, or if the deployment-mobility promise, the same functionality across managed cloud, your cloud and your hardware, is specifically what you need.

For either, insist on a capability matrix in writing. Both vendors publish too little for a buyer to self-qualify.

Sources and review basis

Attribute values come from each product's structured profile rather than being written into this page, so a correction made once appears everywhere. This comparison was last reviewed on 7 November 2026. Assessment of this category is documentation-based, not hands-on testing of every product.

Disclosure

Alongside advisory work I also build a CMMS and CAFM platform, so I have a commercial interest in enterprise software generally. No vendor here has paid for inclusion, placement or wording, and there are no reseller or affiliate arrangements.

Deciding between these?

Independent help scoring them against your actual requirement rather than a feature list, and designing the integration work that follows. No reseller arrangements.
