IBM Maximo Application Suite Alternatives

Maximo is the reference platform in enterprise asset management, so the reasons to look elsewhere are usually specific rather than general. Three come up repeatedly: the entry cost, which starts under US$40,000 a year before implementation; the implementation effort, which is a programme rather than a project; and ERP alignment, where an organisation standardised on SAP or Oracle wants maintenance in the same ledger.

The list below separates genuine enterprise substitutes from products that solve a smaller problem for far less. If your requirement is work orders and PM schedules rather than lifecycle costing and reliability engineering, the lighter options are not a compromise, they are the correct answer.

The alternatives, and why they are here

Selected on capability and use case rather than on sharing a category label. Each entry says what actually differs.

Octave Attune EAM

Octave

View profile

Cloud enterprise asset management for fleets, facilities, equipment and linear assets, sold previously as Infor EAM and then HxGN EAM, now owned by Octave.

Why consider it: The closest like-for-like substitute. Comparable enterprise scope with stronger documented procurement and better handling of linear and geospatial assets. The trade-off is a less settled ownership history and no trial.

SAP S/4HANA Asset Management

SAP

View profile

SAP's asset maintenance capability inside S/4HANA, the successor to ECC Plant Maintenance, surrounded by Asset Performance Management and mobile field execution apps.

Why consider it: The right alternative if S/4HANA is your system of record. You give up maintenance and reliability depth and gain maintenance cost that reconciles to the ledger without an interface.

IFS Cloud EAM

IFS

View profile

IFS's enterprise asset management on the IFS Cloud platform, covering the asset lifecycle in asset-intensive industries, with the same functionality across cloud and on-premises.

Why consider it: A genuine Tier 1 alternative with the cleanest deployment-mobility promise: identical functionality across managed cloud, your cloud and your own hardware. Note that IFS publishes very little capability detail publicly.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Maintenance

Oracle

View profile

Oracle's cloud maintenance application inside Fusion Cloud SCM, managing internally owned and customer assets with work orders, meters and preventive forecasts on one data model.

Why consider it: The equivalent choice for a Fusion ERP and SCM estate, on one data model with quarterly evergreen releases. Weak as a standalone purchase against a non-Oracle ERP.

IFS Ultimo

IFS

View profile

IFS's mid-market enterprise asset management product, acquired in 2022 and sold separately from IFS Cloud EAM, with maintenance, fleet, HSE and operations modules.

Why consider it: A serious step down in scope and cost, reachable from five users. The right alternative if the honest answer is that you do not need enterprise EAM yet, and better still if fleet or safety would otherwise be a second system.

eMaint CMMS

Fluke Reliability

View profile

Cloud CMMS and EAM from eMaint, part of Fluke Reliability, with asset hierarchies, condition monitoring, fully offline mobile and a documented REST API.

Why consider it: The strongest CMMS-tier alternative for regulated and reliability-led work: contractor management, purchasing, global multi-site inventory and condition monitoring with Fluke sensors, at a fraction of the cost.

Accruent Maintenance Connection

Accruent

View profile

Accruent's multi-site CMMS and EAM for work orders, preventive maintenance, inventory and mobile technician access, available as SaaS or on-premises.

Why consider it: Worth considering specifically where on-premises deployment is the requirement that sent you looking past Maximo. It publishes a starting price, which Maximo only partly does.

  • Cloud, On-premises
  • Commercial
  • Hybrid EAM and CMMS
  • USD 110 per user per month (Professional plan, 3-user minimum; mobile is a USD 58 add-on)

What this page is not

This is not a ranking and there is no single best alternative. The right choice depends on what you are replacing and why, which is why each entry states a specific reason rather than a score. Capability values come from each product's structured profile, where anything unverified is labelled as such rather than assumed.
