FieldEdge Alternatives
FieldEdge is cloud field service software for multi-truck SMB and mid-market trades contractors, owned by Xplor Technologies: its own company page states FieldEdge functions under the Xplor Field Services division, after Advent International merged FieldEdge with Clearent in 2018 and Clearent later merged with TSG to form Xplor. The lineage runs back to 1980 as Coastal Computer Corporation, later dESCO, later FieldEdge. It is explicitly engineered for multi-truck operations rather than single-operator work, which distinguishes it from Jobber and Housecall Pro at the bottom end, and it claims no enterprise targeting at all.
Its central selling point is real-time two-way QuickBooks sync covering both Desktop and Online, with field and office transactions syncing automatically. That is unusual breadth: most competitors in this tier offer one-way sync to a single QuickBooks edition. Service agreements are also properly built out, with tracking and billing across the multi-truck operation, a dedicated service agreement programme and automatic reminders. Other capabilities include drag-and-drop work order assignment across trucks, map-based route optimisation, mobile work order creation and dispatch, inventory across multiple locations and business units, flat rate pricing, and Proposal Pro for good-better-best quoting.
The reasons buyers shop around are mostly commercial. Nothing is published: three named membership tiers exist, Select, Premier and Elite, each with a Request Pricing button and no figures, and add-ons in the feature table are marked Call for Pricing. More unusually, there is no way to try it first. FieldEdge states outright that it does not offer a free trial, because it finds new members have the most success without one. That is a rare verified vendor statement rather than an inference from silence, and for some buyers it is disqualifying on its own.
Three capability gaps also drive switching. Offline is unverified: no offline statement was found on any FieldEdge page opened, and the App Store listing URL attempted returned 404. That is silence rather than a documented absence, so treat it as a demo question rather than a no, and look at FieldPulse or BigChange if dead-zone working is a hard requirement. The customer portal is marketed almost entirely as a payment surface, described in terms of getting paid same-day with in-house payment processing, so confirm scope if you want self-service booking. And no public API or developer documentation was found, so integration beyond QuickBooks cannot be assessed from the vendor site.

The alternatives, and why they are here
Selected on capability and use case rather than on sharing a category label. Each entry says what actually differs.
Service Fusion
Service Fusion
All-in-one cloud field service management for small and mid-sized service businesses, distinguished by flat-rate pricing with unlimited users. Published prices from 208 per month billed annually.
Why consider it: The direct SMB alternative with the opposite commercial model: published flat rates from 208 per month billed annually with unlimited users, where FieldEdge publishes nothing and explicitly offers no free trial. Service agreements are missing from the Service Fusion tier matrix, which is FieldEdge strongest area.

Housecall Pro
Housecall Pro
Cloud home-service software for trades contractors covering scheduling, dispatch, GPS route optimisation, estimates, invoicing, payments, a customer portal and recurring service plans. The only product in this category that states its pricing currency.
Why consider it: Cheaper and fully priced for smaller operations, with Recurring Service Plans covering the maintenance-agreement requirement and a 14-day no-card trial that FieldEdge does not offer. QuickBooks support is narrower, Desktop only and one-way, so QuickBooks-centric multi-truck shops may still prefer FieldEdge.

- USD 59 per month, Basic plan, 1 user, billed annually
FieldPulse
Flicent Inc.
Cloud field service management for US residential trades contractors and franchises, with the most mechanically specific offline mode among the small-contractor products here. Seat-based pricing, quote only.
Why consider it: Comparable SMB and mid-market residential trades scope, including maintenance agreements, inventory, job costing and a customer portal that is more than a payment surface. The decisive difference is offline: FieldPulse documents it mechanically, FieldEdge says nothing about it anywhere.

ServiceTitan
ServiceTitan, Inc.
Cloud software for residential and commercial trade contractors with an unusually broad footprint from call booking to job costing. Publicly listed on Nasdaq since December 2024. Per-technician pricing with no published figures.
Why consider it: The step up for contractors who need Enterprise, Franchise or private-equity-backed multi-location tracks, broader accounting coverage across QuickBooks, Xero and Sage Intacct, and audited public-company filings for vendor diligence. Also quote-only, and heavier to run.

Jobber
Jobber
Cloud home-service and trades software combining quoting, scheduling, dispatch, a client portal, invoicing and payments for small contractors. Fully published self-serve pricing from 29 per month and a documented GraphQL API.
Why consider it: Only for single-operator and very small teams, which FieldEdge does not target. Jobber publishes prices from 29 per month, offers a 14-day no-card trial and documents a GraphQL API, but tops out at 15 users on published plans and its offline status is unresolved.

What this page is not
This is not a ranking and there is no single best alternative. The right choice depends on what you are replacing and why, which is why each entry states a specific reason rather than a score. Capability values come from each product's structured profile, where anything unverified is labelled as such rather than assumed.
