AiM
by AssetWorks
AiM is the AssetWorks IWMS for higher education and large institutional estates, sold with the ReADY requester portal and the Go mobile apps, covering maintenance, assets, space, real estate, utilities and facility condition assessment.
What it is
First, the naming question, because it was a specific concern. AiM has not been renamed. AssetWorks own blog states that AiM is at the core of the AssetWorks Integrated Workplace Management System and refers to "AiM IWMS software". IWMS is used as a category label around AiM, not as a replacement product name. AiM is current.
What has changed is where it lives, and this matters more than the name. assetworks.com no longer markets AiM or any facilities or IWMS product at all. Its navigation routes Higher Education visitors to goassetworks.com, and the products it names are fleet and asset offerings. AiM now lives on goassetworks.com, trading as AssetWorks Facilities, based in San Antonio, Texas, with a further subdomain at fac.goassetworks.com. Any directory, reference or procurement document pointing at assetworks.com for AiM is pointing at the wrong site.
The product is sold as a three part suite. AiM is the core, centralising maintenance, assets and inventory in one system with electronic work requests, approvals and progress updates. ReADY, specifically ReADY Request, is the online requester portal, positioned to cut call centre volumes and reduce manual data entry. Go is the mobile app set, letting the workforce receive work in the field and execute it with real time updates to supervisors and customers. Module level names on vendor pages include AiM Operations and Maintenance, AiM Key and Access Control, AiM Real Estate and Property Management and AiM Facilities Management Software, plus Team Scheduler and a customer self service portal.
Positioning is unapologetically higher education. AssetWorks Facilities describes itself as a provider of facilities management software for higher education, runs an AssetWorld user conference, and offers named solutions that reflect campus realities: Assessment and Needs Analysis for facility condition assessment, Utility Management, Construction Project Analysis, Planned and Predictive Maintenance, and Tracking Hazardous Materials. AiM Key and Access Control, with visual floor plan reports, is a genuinely campus specific capability that almost no generic IWMS offers.
There is a lighter edition. 1FM is described as bringing the power of an IWMS solution into an affordable and scalable CMMS, aimed at smaller institutions, and the pricing page states tiers are available for institutions of all sizes. That is a more honest small buyer path than most vendors in this category offer.
Now the serious due diligence problem. AssetWorks publishes no deployment model, cloud or on premise, on the pages verified. It publishes no named third party integration: an Esri partner logo appears on the operations and maintenance page but no GIS capability is described, so this profile does not record a GIS integration. There is no public documentation, no published price, and no trial. For an enterprise purchase, not knowing whether the product is SaaS or self hosted before the sales conversation is a real gap, and the absence of any named integration makes integration planning impossible from public information.
Ownership is indicative rather than confirmed. AssetWorks is reported as a Volaris Group company within Constellation Software, corroborated by Constellation and Volaris press material, but the AssetWorks about page names neither, and the acquisition date could not be verified.
Capabilities
Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.

| Note | No figure published. AssetWorks states tiers are available for institutions of all sizes and directs visitors to a discovery session to receive a quote for their institution. The call to action is a discovery session, not a trial. A lower cost edition, 1FM, exists for smaller institutions but is also unpriced. |

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Deliberate higher education specialisation with campus specific solutions including Assessment and Needs Analysis, Utility Management and AiM Key and Access Control with visual floor plan reports. verified source
- A lighter, lower cost edition called 1FM is offered for smaller institutions, described as bringing IWMS capability into an affordable and scalable CMMS. verified source
- Clear three part packaging separating the core system, the requester portal and the field mobile apps, which matches distinct institutional user populations. verified source
Limitations
- AssetWorks publishes no deployment model, cloud or on premise, and no named third party integrations on the pages verified, which is a real due diligence gap for an enterprise purchase. verified source
- Product information is fragmented across assetworks.com, goassetworks.com and fac.goassetworks.com, and the main corporate site no longer lists AiM at all. verified source
- No public documentation, no price and no trial, and ownership by Volaris Group within Constellation Software is not acknowledged on any AssetWorks page. editorial
Who it suits
Organisation sizes: Medium, Enterprise
AiM fits colleges, universities and large institutional estates, and that is not a hedge: it is the market AssetWorks has deliberately specialised in. If you run a campus with thousands of rooms, a central plant, a locksmith shop, a capital renewal backlog and a facility condition assessment programme, the module set maps onto your actual organisation chart in a way that a generic IWMS does not.
Three capabilities are unusually well matched to campus work. Assessment and Needs Analysis supports the facility condition assessment and deferred maintenance backlog reporting that higher education governance demands. Utility Management matters where a campus operates its own distribution and recharges units. And AiM Key and Access Control, with visual floor plan reports, addresses key and lock management, which is a real and tedious campus problem that almost nothing else in this category touches.
The three part packaging also suits institutional reality. ReADY Request gives faculty, students and staff a self service route that reduces call centre load, and Go gives trades staff mobile execution. Those are different user populations with different needs, and separating them is sensible.
1FM makes AssetWorks worth a look for smaller institutions too, which is unusual at this tier. If a community college or a small private campus needs CMMS capability with a path to IWMS later, that is a coherent offer.
AiM does not fit corporate estates. Everything about the positioning, the terminology, the user conference and the module naming is educational institution oriented. A corporate real estate team will find the fit awkward and the reference base irrelevant, and should look at Planon, Archibus, FM:Systems or IBM Maximo Real Estate and Facilities instead.
It does not fit buyers with a demanding integration brief. No third party integration is named anywhere on the pages verified, no API is described, and there is no public documentation. If AiM has to exchange data with a student information system, an ERP, a BMS or a GIS, you cannot plan that from public information. Make a written integration specification a condition of shortlisting.
It is also a poor fit where deployment model is a hard constraint, since AssetWorks does not publish one, and for buyers needing SLA tracking, contractor management, inspections or procurement, none of which is stated as a named module on the pages verified.
Buyers outside North America should test the fit carefully. The positioning, the references and the vertical language are US higher education, and no non US presence was evidenced.
Typical use cases. Campus wide work order and preventive maintenance management with a self service request portal for faculty and students. Facility condition assessment and deferred maintenance backlog reporting for governing boards. Key and lock management with floor plan based reporting. Campus utility metering and recharge to departments. Space and real estate management across a multi building campus. Capital construction project analysis alongside operational maintenance. Hazardous materials tracking in laboratory and workshop buildings.
Watch for. Use goassetworks.com, not assetworks.com. Written confirmation of the deployment model, which is unpublished. A written integration specification, since none is published. Whether 1FM or full AiM is the right edition and what the upgrade path costs. Whether SLA, contractor and procurement requirements can actually be met. And ask directly about the Volaris and Constellation Software ownership, since AssetWorks does not state it.
Alternatives
Frequently asked questions
No. AssetWorks own blog states that AiM is at the core of the AssetWorks Integrated Workplace Management System and refers to AiM IWMS software. IWMS is a category label used around AiM, not a replacement product name. AiM is the current name.
goassetworks.com, trading as AssetWorks Facilities. The main assetworks.com site no longer markets AiM or any facilities or IWMS product, and routes Higher Education visitors to goassetworks.com. There is also a fac.goassetworks.com subdomain. Any reference pointing at assetworks.com for AiM is out of date.
AssetWorks does not publish a deployment model on the pages verified. This is a genuine gap and should be confirmed in writing before any commitment, along with data residency and hosting responsibility.
Yes. 1FM is described as bringing the power of an IWMS solution into an affordable and scalable CMMS, and the pricing page states tiers are available for institutions of all sizes. No figure is published for either edition.
