Skedda Alternatives
There are two honest reasons to look for Skedda alternatives, and they are quite different. One is the pricing model. The other is Outlook.
Skedda charges per bookable space, not per user, with plans bundling an included number of spaces: from 99 per month for 15 spaces in EMEA and APAC, or 249 per month for 35 spaces in the United States and Canada, all billed annually and all prefixed Starting at. Every figure is printed with a bare dollar symbol and no ISO code, so USD is inferred rather than stated. That model is excellent if you have a small number of bookable spaces and a large number of people, and it inverts badly the moment you have many bookable desks. An organisation hot-desking 400 individual desks will find per-space pricing expensive against deskbird at a few dollars per active user per month. Count your spaces before comparing.
The second reason is more important and more easily missed. Skedda documents calendar sync, not calendar-native booking. Its integrations page says that Outlook calendar syncs with Skedda for real-time availability and scheduling, and lists Microsoft Teams as a direct integration. What it nowhere states is that users can create, cancel or manage bookings from within Outlook or Teams. The same pattern applies to Google Workspace and to Slack. This directory records Skedda Microsoft support as present with that caveat spelled out, not flattened into a yes. If your entire adoption plan rests on employees never leaving Outlook, that distinction is decisive, and it is testable in the free 14-day Premium trial before you need an alternative at all.
If calendar-native booking really is the requirement, there is only one verified answer in this category. Microsoft Places is embedded directly in Teams and Outlook, with desks bookable through Outlook, Teams or the Places app. Robin and deskbird are the next-best evidenced, both naming Outlook and Teams explicitly, deskbird as native in Teams plus an Outlook add-in. Note that even Places does not document recurring-meeting behaviour: no vendor in this category does, so no product here carries a verified recurring-booking claim.
One thing not to go looking for. Skedda is honest about being a booking engine, and it is not a space management product: floor plan planning, space allocation, chargeback, sensors and occupancy counting are all absent from its published material. If you need those, you are changing category rather than changing vendor, and the options below say what does not carry over.

The alternatives, and why they are here
Selected on capability and use case rather than on sharing a category label. Each entry says what actually differs.
deskbird
deskbird
deskbird is desk booking and hybrid work software billed per active user, with published multi-currency rates, native Microsoft Teams and Outlook add-ins, calendar sync, SCIM provisioning, SAML SSO, HRIS integrations and an open API.
Why consider it: The right swap when the per-space model works against you, which it does as soon as you have many bookable desks. deskbird charges per active user from USD 3.75 and EUR 2.75 per month annually, and crucially names both Outlook and Teams explicitly, native in MS Teams with a separate Outlook add-in, where Skedda documents only calendar sync for availability. Also adds SCIM, SAML 2.0, FIDO2 and HRIS integrations. Minimum 25 users on the Business plan.

Joan
Visionect d.o.o.
Joan is room and desk booking software from Visionect, sold in tiered plans that bundle users and devices. It runs on Joan e-paper displays but also on ordinary tablets and LCD screens, so the software is not tied to the vendor hardware.
Why consider it: Also publishes pricing and also suits a small bookable estate, but priced on devices rather than spaces: plans bundle users and devices, extra devices cost roughly ten times extra users, and a 30-day free trial is offered against Skedda 14 days. Best where room displays matter and cabling does not exist, since e-paper panels need no mains power. What does not carry over is the integration evidence: Joan has no published Outlook or Teams statement at all, and no API, SSO or webhook evidence either.

Envoy Workplace
Envoy
Envoy Workplace is a modular workplace platform covering desk, room and parking reservations, interactive live maps, visitor and contractor management, deliveries, room displays and workplace analytics, with per-module published pricing.
Why consider it: The other genuinely budgetable option, priced per bookable resource at USD 5 per month annually rather than per space in bundled tiers, with a real free Visitors Basic plan. Adds visitor and contractor screening, interactive live maps, deliveries and room screens, none of which Skedda describes, and states that bookings can start from calendar invites. What does not carry over: module prices exclude an undisclosed platform fee, and per-location Visitors pricing punishes many small sites.

Microsoft Places
Microsoft
Microsoft Places is an AI-assisted workplace app embedded in Teams and Outlook, covering work plans, workplace presence, room and desk booking and space utilisation insights. Individual desk booking is a premium feature requiring a space licence.
Why consider it: The answer if the reason you are looking past Skedda is the Outlook question. Places is the only product here with verified calendar-native booking, embedded in Teams and Outlook, and core features ship with most Microsoft 365 plans so may cost nothing incremental. What does not carry over: individual desk booking needs a space licence per desk at a price Microsoft does not publish, setup is PowerShell-based Exchange administration, and there is no equivalent of the Skedda embeddable scheduler or Stripe and Xero billing integrations.

WorkInSync
MoveInSync
WorkInSync is hybrid workplace software from MoveInSync, and the cheapest product in this category with published pricing, at 1.79 per user per month on the Standard plan billed annually.
Why consider it: Cheaper again if headcount is the constraint, at a published 1.79 per user per month on the Standard plan billed annually. Two warnings. The currency is inferred from a bare dollar symbol with no ISO code and no regional heading, and the vendor MoveInSync is India-based, making this the weakest currency inference in the set. And nothing else carries over on evidence: only the pricing page was verified, so every capability including Outlook and Teams behaviour is unverified, and trials run only on Enterprise for 7 days.

What this page is not
This is not a ranking and there is no single best alternative. The right choice depends on what you are replacing and why, which is why each entry states a specific reason rather than a score. Capability values come from each product's structured profile, where anything unverified is labelled as such rather than assumed.
