Rippling Alternatives

Rippling is bought as a platform rather than a product: HR records, time and attendance, scheduling, recruiting and performance on one system, with payroll and other modules alongside. That is also why people look for alternatives. The modular structure that makes it flexible makes it hard to budget.

Rippling does publish a starting figure, which puts it in a minority of four products in this directory with a usable public price. Plans start at 8 per employee per month plus a monthly base fee. Two caveats belong next to that number. The page prints a bare dollar sign with no ISO code, so USD is inferred from Rippling being a US headquartered vendor rather than vendor stated. And pricing is modular per product, so the entry figure is a floor rather than a budget, with the real cost depending on which modules you buy and that combination not being published anywhere. A six month free offer for eligible US venture backed startups exists and is a programme, not a free tier, and no trial is listed, only a demo request.

For a UAE or Gulf buyer there is a harder limit. Rippling does not name the UAE, the GCC or the Gulf anywhere on its homepage or global payroll page, and never mentions the Wage Protection System. The countries it does name are Canada, the UK, Australia, India, France, Germany, Brazil, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. A global payroll claim that does not name the United Arab Emirates is not evidence for the United Arab Emirates, so UAE payroll could not be verified from published sources.

One distinction matters more than any feature comparison below. Deel often appears alongside Rippling in search results, and they are not substitutes. Deel is an employer of record first, which solves a legal and tax problem by becoming the legal employer where you have no entity. Rippling administers people you already employ. Work out which of those describes your situation before comparing anything else, because if you have no entity in the hiring country no HRIS can help you, and if you do, an EOR is an expensive way to buy an HRIS.

The alternatives, and why they are here

Selected on capability and use case rather than on sharing a category label. Each entry says what actually differs.

BambooHR

BambooHR

View profile

Cloud HR platform for small and mid sized employers covering employee records, hiring, onboarding, time tracking, performance and benefits. Native payroll is explicitly US only.

Why consider it: A narrower, more conventional HRIS with fully published tier pricing at 10, 17 and 25 USD per employee per month, currency stated, where Rippling publishes only an entry figure of 8 plus an unpublished base fee and modular add ons. BambooHR payroll is US only by its own statement, so neither solves Gulf payroll.

Bob

HiBob (Hi Bob, Inc.)

View profile

HiBob cloud people platform covering core HR, hiring, learning, time, compensation, workforce planning and benefits. Native payroll is US and UK only; elsewhere Payroll Hub syncs to a third party payroll engine.

Why consider it: Bob by Hi Bob, Inc. is the mid market HRIS alternative with an open, readable API, suited to companies that want a strong people record rather than a platform. It publishes no price, and native payroll is US and UK only with Payroll Hub explicitly an integration layer rather than a payroll engine.

Gusto

Gusto

View profile

US focused payroll, HR and benefits platform for small businesses, with an embedded payroll API for partners. Its pricing page refused automated access during verification.

Why consider it: A tighter US payroll and benefits product if payroll is the real problem rather than HR breadth, with open API documentation covering payroll, time off, onboarding and benefits, all United States shaped via W-2 and 1099 constructs. No price can be published: the pricing page returned 403 and Gusto own guides conflict on the top tier.

Deel HR

Deel

View profile

Tiered HR and HRIS product on Deel global employment platform, managing employees, contractors and employer of record workers in one system. UAE coverage is delivered through employer of record or client owned entity payroll.

Why consider it: Not a like for like swap. Deel is an employer of record first, so it solves a legal and tax problem Rippling does not address, and Deel HR is the HRIS layer on top at a published Core 5, Advanced 19 and Elite 29 per person per month with USD inferred. Deel own site contradicts itself on whether Deel HR is free, and that contradiction is published here rather than resolved.

Zoho People

Zoho Corporation

View profile

Zoho cloud HRMS covering core HR, hiring, onboarding, time and attendance, performance, training and analytics. Payroll is a separate product, and UAE payroll with WPS sits in Zoho Payroll UAE edition.

Why consider it: The budget alternative for a small team, with a free edition for up to five users. For a UAE buyer the WPS capability is in the separate Zoho Payroll UAE edition at AED 45, 65 and 90, not in Zoho People, whose payroll integration is labelled India and GCC only.

Factorial

Factorial

View profile

European cloud HR and business operations platform built around a base toolkit plus purchasable modules spanning time, talent, payroll, finance and IT management. No UAE or GCC payroll is mentioned anywhere.

Why consider it: A European alternative at a published 8 per user per month entry price, with a European integration marketplace and payroll localisation examples that are Spanish severance and German sick leave. The UAE, the Gulf, the GCC and the Middle East are not mentioned anywhere on the pages verified.

What this page is not

This is not a ranking and there is no single best alternative. The right choice depends on what you are replacing and why, which is why each entry states a specific reason rather than a score. Capability values come from each product's structured profile, where anything unverified is labelled as such rather than assumed.
