Oracle Fusion Field Service
by Oracle
Oracle cloud field service application within Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. Routes and schedules activities to mobile resources with unusually deep public REST control of the routing engine, and task-by-task documented offline behaviour.
What it is
On the naming question: Oracle calls it Oracle Fusion Field Service, and Oracle is not consistent with itself. The documentation library heading reads Oracle Fusion Field Service, the REST API document title reads REST API for Oracle Fusion Field Service Cloud Service, and the 26D release notes call it simply Field Service. The commonly cited lineage, TOA Technologies acquired and rebranded as Oracle Field Service Cloud, could not be confirmed on any Oracle page that would open, and one third-party assertion that the old standalone SKU is no longer sold for new implementations is recorded here as unverified. For a buyer the practical point is that four names for this product circulate inside Oracle own estate, so pin the SKU down in writing.
oracle.com returned HTTP 403 to automated access on every marketing path, including the product page. docs.oracle.com was reachable, and it is the basis for everything recorded here. That turns out to be a better source anyway, because the documentation is specific where the marketing is not.
The routing and scheduling story is the strongest part. Oracle publishes REST endpoints covering routing profiles, routing plans, routing runs, rollback and run reports with pagination and scoped authentication. That is unusually deep external control of an optimiser: you can drive the scheduler from outside the UI rather than only configuring it through screens. Constraints and priorities are set at plan level. Field managers work from a team map and Gantt view, moving activities between resources. Work orders integrate bi-directionally with Oracle Fusion Service out of the box through Oracle Integration, where Fusion Service work orders create, update, reschedule, cancel and complete Field Service activities.
- Offline is documented honestly and the marketing overstates it. Oracle documentation lists offline behaviour task by task. Offline you can activate the route, reorder activities, edit activity details, set statuses, and add, edit, install, deinstall and exchange inventory. You cannot view maps or directions, reschedule an activity, change resource, view activity history, download or view files or signatures, or use Smart Location, and as a manager you cannot reach Routing, Capacity or Forecasting. Oracle marketing copy claiming full offline access conflicts with this; the documentation is treated as authoritative here and the discrepancy is recorded.
- Offline is also gated commercially. It requires a subscription to Oracle Fusion Field Service Professional, Enterprise or Mobility Cloud Service. It is not inherent to the base product.
- Inventory transactions work offline, which is genuinely useful and rarer than vendors imply.
Capabilities
Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.
| Capability | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Documented API A publicly documented API for integration. | Yes | Multiple public REST APIs with quick start, use cases and a full endpoint list, including routing profiles, plans, runs, rollback and run reports. source |
| Parts and inventory Parts consumption, van stock and inventory tracking. | Yes | Inventory list and details, add, edit, install, deinstall, exchange, plus parts catalogue search. Inventory transactions work offline. source |
| Work order management Work order lifecycle from request to completion. | Yes | Fusion Service work orders create, update, reschedule, cancel and complete Field Service activities bi-directionally. source |
| Offline working Creating and completing work with no connectivity, and syncing on reconnection. | Yes | PARTIAL AND COMMERCIALLY GATED, and Oracle marketing overstates it. Requires a subscription to Professional, Enterprise or Mobility Cloud Service. Offline you CAN activate the route, reorder activities, edit activity details, set statuses, and add, edit, install, deinstall and exchange inventory. You CANNOT view maps or directions, reschedule, change resource, view activity history, download or view files or signatures, use Smart Location, or as a manager reach Routing, Capacity or Forecasting. Oracle marketing copy claims full offline access, which conflicts; the documentation is treated as authoritative. source |
| Technician mobile app A dedicated mobile application for field technicians. | Yes | Technician route and activity app with route activation, status setting, file and signature capture. source |
| Route optimisation Optimising travel between jobs across a working day. | Yes | Routing runs driven by routing profiles and plans, with constraints and priorities set at plan level and controllable via public REST endpoints. source |
| Scheduling and optimisation Scheduling work against availability, skills and capacity. | Yes | Routing profiles, plans and runs, plus Routing, Capacity and Forecasting pages for managers. source |
| Dispatch and assignment Assigning jobs to technicians and managing the dispatch board. | Yes | Field managers move activities between resources using a team map and Gantt view. Documented as online-only manager tasks. source |
| Workforce and crew management Timesheets, crews, certifications and workforce administration. | Not verified | Not verifiable; oracle.com marketing returned 403. |
| SLA management Measuring response and resolution against service levels. | Not verified | Not verifiable; oracle.com marketing returned 403. |
| GPS and vehicle tracking Vehicle or technician location tracking. | Not verified | Smart Location is named as a feature unavailable offline, but no page describing it was opened, so this is recorded unknown rather than inferred. |
| Invoicing and payments Invoicing from completed work and taking payment. | Not verified | Not verifiable; oracle.com marketing returned 403. |
| Quoting and estimating Producing quotes and estimates for customer work. | Not verified | Not verifiable; oracle.com marketing returned 403. |
| Service contracts and agreements Recurring service agreements, entitlements and renewals. | Not verified | Not verifiable; oracle.com marketing returned 403. |
| Customer portal A portal for customers to log and track jobs. | Not verified | Not verifiable; oracle.com marketing returned 403. |

| Note | BLOCKED. oracle.com returned HTTP 403 on all marketing paths including the product page, and Oracle price lists were not retrievable, so no Oracle-published figure could be read. What IS documented is the tier structure: Oracle Fusion Field Service Professional, Enterprise and Mobility Cloud Service. That matters commercially because offline mode requires one of those subscriptions. Expect quote-based subscription licensing. |

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Public REST routing APIs cover profiles, plans, runs, rollback and run reports with pagination and scoped auth, giving unusually deep external control of the optimiser. verified source
- Offline behaviour is documented task by task, including inventory transactions working offline, rather than asserted as a blanket capability. verified source
- Bi-directional work order and activity integration with Oracle Fusion Service out of the box via Oracle Integration. verified source
Limitations
- Offline mode requires a Professional, Enterprise or Mobility Cloud Service subscription. It is not inherent to the base product. verified source
- Maps, directions, rescheduling, resource change, activity history, file and signature viewing and Smart Location all fail offline, which contradicts Oracle own marketing claim of full offline access. verified source
- Naming is inconsistent across Oracle own assets: Oracle Fusion Field Service in the docs index, Oracle Fusion Field Service Cloud Service in the REST doc title, and simply Field Service in the 26D release notes. verified source
- Oracle marketing site is unreadable to automated access, so buyers comparing this product must work from the documentation library instead of the product page. editorial
Who it suits
Organisation sizes: Enterprise
Good fit: large field organisations already buying Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, where Field Service sits beside Fusion Service and the bi-directional work order integration is available without custom middleware. It is a particularly good fit for engineering-led teams who want programmatic control of the scheduling optimiser, because the public routing REST APIs cover profiles, plans, runs, rollback and reporting rather than just reading activity data. Utilities are an explicit Oracle reference area.
Poor fit: small and mid-size contractors, and anyone whose crews need genuinely complete offline working. The offline exclusions are real and specific: no maps, no directions, no rescheduling, no resource change, no activity history, no file or signature viewing, and no Smart Location. A technician in a basement can set statuses and move inventory but cannot navigate or see history. It is also a poor fit if you need to evaluate from public material, since Oracle marketing pages and price lists are unreadable to automated access and no pricing could be obtained.
Typical use cases: utility field operations, telecoms install and repair at volume, and large service organisations standardising on Oracle Fusion where activity routing volume justifies an optimiser you can drive by API. Buyers should check which subscription tier they are being quoted, because offline capability depends on it.

Frequently asked questions
Oracle Fusion Field Service. Oracle is inconsistent: the documentation library heading says Oracle Fusion Field Service, the REST API document title says Oracle Fusion Field Service Cloud Service, and the 26D release notes say simply Field Service. The older name Oracle Field Service Cloud still circulates. The TOA Technologies lineage could not be confirmed on any Oracle page that would open.
No. Offline is a documented subset and it is gated by subscription tier. You can activate a route, reorder activities, edit details, set statuses and move inventory offline. You cannot use maps or directions, reschedule, change resource, view activity history, or view files and signatures. Oracle marketing copy claiming full offline access conflicts with Oracle own documentation, which is what this profile follows.
Yes. Oracle publishes routing REST endpoints covering routing profiles, routing plans, routing runs, rollback and run reports, with pagination and scoped authentication. That is a deeper level of external optimiser control than most products in this category expose.
