What it is

OverIT markets its field service platform as NextGen FSM, part of a NextGen Platform that also includes NextGen Field Collaboration and NextGen Geo. The product lineage matters for search purposes: Geocall was OverIT prior FSM product, and the GEOCALL trademark is still recorded to OVERIT S.P.A. No OverIT page states the Geocall to NextGen rename explicitly, and review aggregators still carry Geocall listings, so expect Geocall, Next-Gen FSM Platform and NextGen FSM all to circulate as names for the same lineage.

On ownership: OverIT S.p.A. is a privately held Italian company that spun off from Gruppo Engineering in October 2021 and is controlled by investment firms Bain Capital and Neuberger Berman. Stake percentages are not public. No later ownership change was found.

The scheduling depth is the strongest documented part, and it is specialised in ways that matter for utilities. Assignment runs in automatic, manual or mixed modes, allocating on skills, location and availability, with multi-team multi-day optimisation, machine learning that adapts from dispatcher adjustments, job duration prediction, and job bundling including bundling along linear assets. Multistage tasks with time dependencies are supported, which is the kind of requirement that eliminates most trades-oriented products immediately. In-day rescheduling handles emergencies, delays and travel disruption. SLA and regulatory compliance monitoring is explicit, with alerts as deadlines approach and compliance reporting for contractual and legal obligations.

  • GIS is a native module, not a bolt-on, and GIS and IoT integration runs through the asset maintenance story. For linear-asset operators this is a genuine architectural differentiator.
  • Blended workforce is built in. Contractor management covers contracts, scheduling and assigning work to third parties, and OverIT describes a blended employee, contractor and part-time workforce as a first-class case.
  • Customer invoicing is recorded as unknown, deliberately. Invoicing appears on OverIT pages only under supplier and purchase management, which is supplier-side rather than customer-side billing. Service contracts are similarly supplier and contractor contract compliance rather than customer entitlement management; read that carefully against your requirement.
  • Documentation is gated. The product training portal is password-protected, there is no public API documentation, and no OverIT page states a deployment model, so cloud, on-premises and hybrid are all unknown.
  • Integration claims are generic. OverIT states integration with CRM, ERP, asset management, GIS and IoT, but names no specific vendor products on the pages opened, so only GIS and a generic asset-management coupling could be recorded. If you need a named SAP, Oracle, Salesforce or Dynamics connector, treat that as an open question.
  • Work intake is designed around other systems. The work management module takes orders from ERP, CRM, EAM or IoT, which tells you OverIT expects to sit in a wider landscape, even though it is a full execution platform rather than a scheduling layer.

Capabilities

Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.

CapabilityStatusNotes
Workforce and crew management Timesheets, crews, certifications and workforce administration. Yes Centralised crew availability, skills and assignments; dynamic team assembly; contractor management covering contracts, scheduling and assigning work to third parties; blended employee, contractor and part-time workforce. source
SLA management Measuring response and resolution against service levels. Yes SLA and regulatory compliance monitoring, alerts as deadlines approach, and compliance reporting for contractual and legal obligations. source
GPS and vehicle tracking Vehicle or technician location tracking. Yes GPS tracking of technician locations. source
Quoting and estimating Producing quotes and estimates for customer work. Yes Material management supports quotes. source
Parts and inventory Parts consumption, van stock and inventory tracking. Yes Material management covering spare parts, warranties and returns, with tracking of materials used. source
Work order management Work order lifecycle from request to completion. Yes Work management takes orders from ERP, CRM, EAM or IoT, with real-time creation and dispatch, criticality prioritisation, and reporting and debriefing on completed tasks. source
Service contracts and agreements Recurring service agreements, entitlements and renewals. Yes READ THIS CAREFULLY. Supplier and purchase management covers third-party contractors, budgets and invoicing and helps ensure compliance with contracts and service level agreements. This is supplier and contractor contract compliance, NOT customer service-contract or entitlement management. source
Offline working Creating and completing work with no connectivity, and syncing on reconnection. Yes OverIT states the mobile app works offline and technicians can access and collect data on low connection or offline. No scope or limits documentation is published and no contradiction was found, so this is an unqualified vendor claim. source
Technician mobile app A dedicated mobile application for field technicians. Yes Mobile app for technicians that unifies multiple apps on one screen. source
Route optimisation Optimising travel between jobs across a working day. Yes Route optimisation to cut drive time and fuel, assigning the closest suitable technician. source
Scheduling and optimisation Scheduling work against availability, skills and capacity. Yes Automatic, manual and mixed modes; skills, location and availability allocation; multi-team multi-day optimisation; ML learning from dispatcher adjustments; job duration prediction; job bundling including along linear assets; multistage tasks with time dependencies; capacity planning. source
Dispatch and assignment Assigning jobs to technicians and managing the dispatch board. Yes Urgency and impact prioritisation with resource reallocation, critical-jobs assistant, real-time dashboard and alerts, in-day rescheduling for emergencies, delays and travel disruption. source
Documented API A publicly documented API for integration. Not verified A 2021 third-party infographic calls the platform API-first, but OverIT own NextGen FSM pages do not mention an API and no public API documentation was found.
Invoicing and payments Invoicing from completed work and taking payment. Not verified Invoicing is named only under supplier and purchase management, which is supplier-side. Customer invoicing could not be verified, so recorded unknown rather than stretched into a yes.
Customer portal A portal for customers to log and track jobs. Not verified Not stated on any OverIT page opened.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • GIS is a native module rather than a bolt-on, with GIS and IoT integration running through the asset maintenance story. verified source
  • Scheduling suited to linear assets and multistage dependent tasks, with machine learning that adapts from dispatcher overrides and job duration prediction. verified source
  • Explicit SLA and regulatory compliance monitoring with deadline alerts and compliance reporting for contractual and legal obligations. verified source
  • Blended workforce and contractor management built in, covering contracts, scheduling and assigning work to third parties. verified source

Limitations

  • Industry targeting is narrow, limited to utilities, oil and gas, telecoms and transportation, making it a poor fit outside asset-intensive field operations. verified source
  • Product documentation is gated: the product training portal is password-protected and no public API documentation exists. verified source
  • No published pricing and no stated deployment model at all, so both technical and commercial diligence require vendor contact. editorial
  • Naming carries legacy confusion, with Geocall, Next-Gen FSM Platform and NextGen FSM all still in circulation for the same lineage. editorial

Who it suits

Organisation sizes: Enterprise

Good fit: asset-intensive, mission-critical field operations in the industries OverIT names, which are electric, gas and water utilities, oil and gas, telecommunications and transportation. It is a strong fit specifically where work is organised around linear assets, where tasks have multistage time dependencies, where SLA and regulatory deadlines carry legal exposure, and where a substantial share of the workforce is contracted rather than employed. Organisations that already treat GIS as a system of record rather than a map layer will find the native GIS module a better fit than products that integrate to GIS as an afterthought.

Poor fit: anything outside asset-intensive field operations. OverIT narrows its own industry targeting sharply, and a general commercial services or trades business would be buying specialised machinery it does not need. It is also a poor fit if your requirement centres on customer billing, since customer invoicing could not be verified, or if you need a customer portal, which is unverified. Buyers needing to assess integration risk up front should note there is no public API documentation at all.

Typical use cases: utility crew dispatch across electric, gas and water networks, pipeline and linear-asset inspection and maintenance campaigns, telecoms outside plant work, and transportation infrastructure maintenance with regulatory reporting obligations. Technical and commercial diligence both require vendor contact: there is no published pricing, no public API reference and no stated deployment model.

Alternatives

IFS Cloud Field Service Management IFS The nearest enterprise comparable for asset-intensive service, with one data model across workforce, assets, service events, contracts and parts. IFS is broader across industries; OverIT is sharper on GIS, linear assets and regulatory compliance deadlines. Both are evaluated sales-led, since neither publishes anything commercial.
Oracle Fusion Field Service Oracle A strong alternative for utility and telecoms field operations at volume, where activity routing justifies an optimiser you can drive by public REST API. Better documented on offline behaviour, though offline is gated by subscription tier.
ServiceNow Field Service Management ServiceNow Comparable on SLA rigour, with SLA breach risk constraining task unassignment and SLA-based ordering rules, plus crew handling through the Field Service Crew Operations plugin. Pick ServiceNow where field work belongs on the same platform as the service desk rather than on a GIS-centric one.
SAP Field Service Management SAP For blended delivery specifically: SAP crowd service dispatches certified partners and third-party vendors natively, which is the closest equivalent to OverIT contractor management. Requires an SAP landscape to make sense.
Dynamics 365 Field Service Microsoft A priced enterprise alternative for utilities and asset service, with IoT-driven predictive work orders through Connected Field Service. Useful as a cost benchmark, since OverIT publishes no pricing and does not state its licensing model.

Geocall is the predecessor. The current product line is NextGen FSM, and the GEOCALL trademark remains recorded to OVERIT S.P.A. No OverIT page states the rename explicitly, and review aggregators still carry Geocall listings, so treat Geocall, Next-Gen FSM Platform and NextGen FSM as names for the same lineage.

Yes to both. Contractor management covers contracts, scheduling and assigning work to third parties, with explicit support for a blended employee, contractor and part-time workforce. SLA and regulatory compliance monitoring includes alerts as deadlines approach and compliance reporting for contractual and legal obligations.
