Infor LN versus IFS Cloud
This pair comes up in asset-intensive and project-driven manufacturing, especially aerospace and defence, and the two vendors approach it from different ends.
Infor LN is verifiable, because infor.com was accessible. It is Infor enterprise ERP for complex discrete manufacturing, with a stated focus on aerospace and defence, automotive and high tech. Infor cites over 1,500 discrete manufacturing customers across aerospace and defence, automotive, high tech, industrial manufacturing and engineering and construction. Verified capabilities are manufacturing with stated support for configure-to-order and assembly line production, native multi-company covering multiple companies, locations and financial entities, multi-currency, built-in analytics and embedded business intelligence, and mobile access. It is delivered as a multi-tenant cloud solution on AWS, and it is also the engine behind Infor CloudSuite Industrial Enterprise.
The IFS Cloud profile cross-listed here is scoped to asset management, because that is the category it was researched and published for, and nothing could be verified from ifs.com: the site returned HTTP 429 Too Many Requests on every attempt. Third-party sources describe IFS Cloud as one composable platform carrying ERP, enterprise asset management and field service management on a shared codebase. Claims about it in this comparison are therefore kept general on purpose. That is a vendor access limitation, not a judgement about the platform.

Full profileThe main differences
Where the two propositions genuinely differ
Infor LN is a manufacturing-first enterprise ERP whose verified strengths are complex production models and complex group structures. IFS markets a composable platform in which asset management and service delivery sit on the same codebase as ERP, which is a structurally different answer if your revenue depends on maintaining and servicing equipment rather than on producing it. Those are different centres of gravity, and that distinction holds even though the IFS record could not be verified.
Deployment and customisation control
Infor LN is delivered as true multi-tenant cloud on AWS with no on-premises option mentioned, which constrains the deep customisation that long-lived LN installations often depend on. On-premises availability is recorded as unknown, widely reported by third parties but not stated by Infor. If you are migrating an older, heavily modified installation, that is the single most important thing to pin down, because multi-tenant SaaS and a customised single-tenant estate are not the same product experience.
Integration is the weak spot in the public record
The Infor LN page raises PLM, MES, service and supply chain integration in its FAQ without answering any of them, and names no API, so integration planning gets no help from public material. Most finance modules, general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets, purchasing, inventory, project accounting, HR and payroll and tax, are recorded as unknown because the vendor page mentions financials only in general terms as end-to-end coverage extending to financials and does not enumerate modules. Project accounting specifically is unknown: project-based workflows are stated, mainly for aerospace and defence, but project accounting as a finance module is not claimed. For IFS, nothing on integration could be verified at all. If integration matters, and in asset-intensive manufacturing it always does, see batch versus real-time integration and plan it as a workstream with named owners.
The edition confusion
Infor LN is the wrong product for simple discrete manufacturing, and the overlap with CloudSuite Industrial Enterprise means buyers can easily end up discussing the same system under two names without realising which edition and commercial model they are being offered. Infor markets two editions on one page: CloudSuite Industrial Enterprise built on Infor LN, and CloudSuite Industrial for SMBs built on Infor SyteLine. If you are a job shop or a smaller manufacturer, Infor CloudSuite Industrial is the right conversation, not LN.
Ownership
Infor has been owned by Koch Industries as a standalone subsidiary since April 2020, verified from Infor own newsroom. That gives the product a strategic industrial parent rather than a fund with an exit timetable, which is a genuine point of stability relative to several private-equity-held competitors in this category.

Read the full assessmentWhich to choose
Choose Infor LN if complex discrete manufacturing and a complex legal entity structure are your defining requirements, you are comfortable on multi-tenant cloud, and you can accept that the finance module detail and the integration surface have to be extracted from the vendor rather than read. The verified record on production models, multi-company, multi-currency and the named customer base in aerospace and defence is real evidence, and more than most competitors here offer.
Consider IFS Cloud if asset management and field service are as important as production, and read the IFS Cloud profile in the enterprise asset management category rather than this ERP cross-listing, because that is where the asset-side detail sits. Expect to do your own verification: ifs.com rate-limits automated access, so there is no publicly readable capability record to compare against the Infor one.
Neither publishes pricing. Infor states no figure on the LN page, and third-party sites publish wildly inconsistent figures for Infor products ranging from per-user bands to six-figure annual minimums, none of which were used here and none of which you should rely on either. For both, ask which modules are in the quote, what the licensing metric is, and what you are committing to at renewal. For a platform sold as composable, ask specifically which components are licensed separately, because a shared codebase is not a shared licence.
Frequently asked questions
Because ifs.com returned HTTP 429 Too Many Requests on every attempt, so nothing could be verified from the vendor, and the IFS Cloud profile in this directory is scoped to asset management rather than to ERP. Third-party sources describe IFS Cloud as one composable platform with ERP, EAM and FSM on a shared codebase. Claims are kept general deliberately rather than filled in from marketing copy.
Unknown. Infor describes LN as a multi-tenant cloud solution on AWS and mentions no on-premises option. On-premises availability is widely reported by third parties but is not stated by Infor, so it is recorded as unknown. If you depend on deep customisation, raise this first: true multi-tenant SaaS constrains it.
Not quite, and this is a common source of confusion. Infor markets CloudSuite Industrial Enterprise built on Infor LN, and CloudSuite Industrial for SMBs built on Infor SyteLine, on the same page. So you can be shown the same engine under two names with different commercial models. Ask which edition and which core ERP you are being quoted.
Unknown. Project-based workflows are stated, mainly for aerospace and defence, but project accounting as a finance module is not claimed on the vendor page. Most finance modules are unknown for the same reason: Infor mentions financials only in general terms and does not enumerate them.
