IFS Cloud versus SAP S/4HANA Cloud
Read the scoping note before the comparison. The IFS Cloud profile in this directory is scoped to asset management, because that is the category it was originally researched and published for. It is cross-listed into ERP because IFS Cloud is not an asset management point solution. Third-party sources describe IFS Cloud as one composable platform carrying ERP, enterprise asset management and field service management on a shared codebase. So the profile you are reading describes one face of a broader platform.
This is also the comparison where neither side could be verified from the vendor. ifs.com returned HTTP 429 Too Many Requests on every attempt, so nothing could be confirmed from IFS own published material. sap.com returned HTTP 403 Forbidden on every attempt, and help.sap.com served a page title with no document body, so nothing functional could be confirmed from SAP either. Two of the largest vendors in this category, and between them almost no publicly checkable capability record. That is a finding about vendor transparency, and it is worth saying out loud rather than papering over with generic marketing language.
Keep the IFS claims in this comparison general for that reason. What can reasonably be said is architectural and positional: IFS markets a composable platform where asset management, service and ERP share a codebase, which is a different proposition from buying a finance-centred suite and integrating asset management into it. SAP S/4HANA Cloud is positioned as SAP full cloud ERP suite and as the strategic successor for midsized companies and group subsidiaries following the withdrawal of SAP Business ByDesign from sale.

IFS
IFS's enterprise asset management on the IFS Cloud platform, covering the asset lifecycle in asset-intensive industries, with the same functionality across cloud and on-premises.
Full profileSAP S/4HANA Cloud
SAP
SAP's current flagship cloud ERP suite, and the product SAP directs new mid-market and enterprise cloud ERP buyers toward. Vendor pages could not be read this pass because sap.com refused automated access, so this profile is deliberately thin.
Full profileThe main differences
The real axis: asset-centred versus finance-centred
If your business is defined by physical assets, maintenance, and field service delivery, an asset-and-service-first platform changes where the master data lives and which team owns the system. If your business is defined by financial consolidation, statutory reporting and group structure, a finance-first suite does the same in the other direction. That distinction survives the evidence gap, because it is about product architecture and vendor focus rather than about any individual feature.
What you cannot conclude from either record
- Functional depth. Unknown for both. Not absent, unverified. For SAP, all five recorded capabilities including general ledger, manufacturing, multi-currency, tax compliance and documented API are marked unknown with the HTTP 403 as the stated cause.
- Pricing. No figure for either, and for SAP it could not even be established whether a list price is published. No price was taken from any review aggregator for either product.
- Integration surface. No integration could be sourced for SAP S/4HANA Cloud in this pass, and the IFS profile could not be verified from the vendor at all.
What this means for your evaluation
You cannot shortlist this pair from desk research. You can, and should, shortlist it from a scripted demonstration using your own asset register, your own work order types and your own chart of accounts. If asset management is central, read the IFS Cloud profile in the enterprise asset management category rather than this ERP cross-listing, because it carries the asset-side detail. If finance and group consolidation are central, treat SAP against Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, or against Dynamics 365 Finance, as the more informative comparison. Our contract lifecycle management versus ERP and WMS versus ERP notes are useful if you are trying to work out where a platform boundary should sit in your own architecture.

Not verified means the capability has not been checked for that product. It does not mean the product lacks it. Blank cells and unverified rows are never counted as a "no".

Lead with asset and service requirements if you are leaning IFS, and with finance and statutory requirements if you are leaning SAP. That is the most honest guidance the verified record supports, and it is more useful than a feature table assembled from vendor marketing neither of us could read.
Because neither vendor site could be verified, put the whole evaluation into written form. Ask for a module list against your requirement script, country by country statutory coverage, the published integration surface with documentation links, the upgrade cadence and how much control you retain over timing, and the licensing metric with renewal terms. Get those in the contract. For a platform like IFS Cloud, also ask explicitly which parts of the composable platform are in the quote and which are separately licensed, because a shared codebase does not mean a shared licence.
One more caution. A thin public record caused by a vendor rate-limiting or blocking automated access is not evidence of a thin product. Both of these are substantial, actively sold platforms. What the blocking does cost you is the ability to verify anything before you are inside a sales process, which shifts the burden of proof onto you and makes a well-written requirements script the single most valuable thing you can bring to the table.
Frequently asked questions
Because that is the category it was researched and published for, and a product keeps one profile and one URL in this directory. It is cross-listed into ERP because third-party sources describe IFS Cloud as one composable platform carrying ERP, enterprise asset management and field service management on a shared codebase. The profile is scoped to asset management, so treat it as one face of a broader platform.
Very little. ifs.com returned HTTP 429 Too Many Requests on every attempt and sap.com returned HTTP 403 Forbidden on every attempt, with help.sap.com serving a page title and no body. No User-Agent spoofing or archive workaround was attempted. Every capability for both is recorded as unknown, meaning unverified rather than missing.
The verified record does not settle it. What it supports is a sequencing recommendation: run the asset register, work order and maintenance scenarios first and let them eliminate options, then test finance and consolidation. If asset management genuinely drives your business case, an asset and service-first platform deserves a serious look rather than being treated as a module you bolt onto a finance suite.
No. It was withdrawn from sale to new customers on 20 April 2026 and removed from the SAP price list, so it cannot be bought. It appears in this directory only as lineage. SAP points midsized companies and group subsidiaries to S/4HANA Cloud and smaller companies to SAP Business One.
