Looker Studio
by Google
Google's free self-service reporting tool, formerly Data Studio, strongest for marketing and web analytics reporting.
What it is
Looker Studio is free, browser-based, and for a very common job it is the fastest route to an answer: pulling Google Analytics, Google Ads and Sheets into a shared report that updates itself. That explains its very large user base in marketing teams.
Despite the shared name it has almost nothing in common with Looker. There is no LookML, no governed semantic layer, and no shared metric definitions. It is a reporting front end, not a BI platform.
Its limits appear as you scale: large datasets get slow, governance is thin, and multi-source modelling is awkward. For small reporting jobs none of that matters; for enterprise standardisation all of it does.
Capabilities
Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.

Frequently asked questions
No, and it is the most common misconception in this category. Looker is a governed platform built on LookML. Looker Studio has no modelling layer at all, and the brand is the only thing the two actually have in common. See Looker vs Looker Studio.
