What it is

The single most important fact about Epicor Kinetic is a date, and Epicor has published it. In a press release dated 6 January 2026, Epicor announced the schedule of final on-premises feature releases for Kinetic, Prophet 21 and BisTrack. For Kinetic, the final on-premises release is 2028.1, tentatively scheduled January 2028, with Active Support for release 2028.1 through 31 December 2029 and Sustaining Support beginning 1 January 2030. Epicor states that these releases mark the transition of future innovation for these platforms exclusively to the Epicor Cloud. If you are evaluating Kinetic for an on-premises deployment, you are buying into a platform with a published end of feature development and a known support cliff, and that should be priced into the decision rather than discovered later.

That finding cuts both ways, and the positive side matters too. The same release confirms that Kinetic and Prophet 21 are both current, separately named Epicor products on active release schedules, which the first research pass could not establish at all. Epicor describes the platforms collectively as helping companies in the make, move and sell industries thrive, and does not describe Kinetic and Prophet 21 separately in that release. Kinetic is the manufacturing line, which is the make part of that phrase, and Prophet 21 is the distribution line.

The vendor site is still unreadable, so functionality remains unverified. Every request to epicor.com returned HTTP 403 Forbidden across six different paths, including the Kinetic product page, the cloud business platform page under both en-us and en locales, the home page and a blog post; docs.epicor.com does not resolve as a hostname; the Australian regional site failed TLS handshake; and businesswire.com returned 403 on the release itself. No User-Agent was spoofed and no proxy, reader or archive was used. The press release was read through a syndicated republication that labels it a paid press release with Epicor as the source. Because no Epicor product page could be read, the capability table below remains empty: the general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing modules, project accounting, HR and payroll, multi-company, multi-currency, tax, reporting, API and mobile are all unverified. That is a gap in this profile, not an absence in the product.

Naming history. Kinetic is widely understood to be the current name of the product formerly marketed as Epicor ERP, which descends from the Vantage and Vista lines. The rename itself was not confirmed from a source opened here, so it remains market understanding rather than verified fact, but the Kinetic name is now verified as current from Epicor's own release. A buyer will meet all of those older names in third-party research.

Capabilities

Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.

CapabilityStatusNotes
Mobile access Mobile application or responsive access for approvals and enquiry. Not verified
Documented API A publicly documented API for integration. Not verified Not verifiable this pass.
Reporting and analytics Financial and operational reporting and analytics. Not verified
Tax and statutory compliance VAT, withholding and statutory reporting, including local regimes. Not verified
Multi-currency Transacting and reporting in multiple currencies with revaluation. Not verified

HR and payroll Employee records and payroll, native or via integration. Not verified
Project accounting Project costing, work in progress and revenue recognition. Not verified
Manufacturing and production Bills of material, routings and production orders. Not verified Not verifiable: epicor.com returned HTTP 403 on every path. Epicor positions the platforms for the make, move and sell industries and Kinetic is its manufacturing line, but that is positioning rather than a module claim.
Inventory management Stock valuation, locations and movements. Not verified
Purchasing and procurement Requisitions, purchase orders and goods receipt. Not verified
Fixed asset accounting Asset registers, depreciation and disposal accounting. Not verified
Accounts receivable Customer invoicing, collections and credit control. Not verified
Accounts payable Supplier invoices, approvals and payment runs. Not verified

Note that the published move to cloud-only innovation after release 2028.1 has commercial consequences that should be negotiated up front. No price was taken from a review aggregator.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Epicor has committed its future investment clearly rather than leaving it ambiguous, stating that these releases mark the transition of future innovation for these platforms exclusively to the Epicor Cloud. verified source

Limitations

  • On-premises Kinetic has a published end point: release 2028.1, tentatively January 2028, is the final on-premises feature release, with Active Support through 31 December 2029 and Sustaining Support beginning 1 January 2030. verified source
  • Epicor publishes no machine-readable product information: epicor.com returned HTTP 403 on six paths and docs.epicor.com does not resolve, so a buyer can verify the lifecycle dates but not a single functional capability from public material. editorial
  • The product has carried several names over time, including Vantage, Vista, Epicor ERP and now Kinetic, which makes secondary research on it unusually prone to describing a superseded version. editorial

Who it suits

Organisation sizes: Medium, Enterprise

The fit question now turns almost entirely on whether you are willing to be a cloud customer. Epicor has published that on-premises feature development for Kinetic ends with release 2028.1 and that future innovation moves exclusively to Epicor Cloud. A manufacturer who wants cloud ERP can treat that as a clear commitment of the vendor's investment. A manufacturer who requires on-premises deployment, for data residency, latency, regulatory or plant-continuity reasons, is looking at a platform that will stop gaining features in early 2028 and leaves Active Support on 31 December 2029. That is not a reason to rule it out, but it is a reason to run the numbers on a cloud migration inside the same business case.

  • Get the lifecycle dates confirmed for your contract. Epicor describes the 2028.1 dates as tentative. Ask for the committed dates, what Sustaining Support from 1 January 2030 actually includes, and what it costs.
  • Price the cloud migration now, not in 2028. If you deploy on-premises, ask what the migration to Epicor Cloud will involve and cost, and get the commercial terms for it agreed at the outset rather than from a position of weakness once support is ending.
  • Confirm functional scope module by module for general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed assets, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing and production scheduling, project accounting, HR and payroll, multi-company consolidation, multi-currency, statutory tax for your countries, and reporting.
  • Confirm the integration surface, including whether a documented REST API exists, what it covers, and what the rate limits are.
  • Get the full cost, across subscription or licence, hosting, support, partner implementation, data migration and renewal uplift terms.
  • Ask about the upgrade cadence and what it obliges you to test, which is the usual hidden cost in manufacturing ERP.

Manufacturing alternatives that could be verified in this pass. If you want to make progress against publicly checkable vendor information, the manufacturing ERP products in this directory whose vendor sites were readable include Syspro ERP, QAD Adaptive ERP, Infor CloudSuite Industrial, Infor LN, Acumatica Cloud ERP, Dynamics 365 Business Central, Odoo, ERPNext and Cetec ERP. That is a comment on the transparency of public material, not on product quality, and Epicor Kinetic should not be ruled out on the strength of a crawler block. But a buyer is entitled to expect a vendor to make its product information publicly readable, and the absence of it here does shift diligence effort onto you.

On pricing. No figure is recorded. It could not be established whether Epicor publishes any list price. No figure was taken from a review aggregator.

Alternatives

Syspro ERP Syspro The strongest alternative on verified evidence: nine capabilities confirmed from an accessible vendor site, covering a full finance module list plus bill of materials, MRP, work in progress, product configurator, quality management and engineering change control, on the Syspro 8 2026 R2 release line. No announced on-premises sunset, although on-premises availability itself is not stated and should be confirmed.
Infor CloudSuite Industrial Infor A multi-tenant cloud manufacturing ERP for small and midsize manufacturers with verified manufacturing, inventory, multi-company and reporting, and a strategic industrial parent in Koch Industries rather than a fund with an exit timetable. Note it is true multi-tenant cloud on AWS with no on-premises or hybrid option mentioned.
Acumatica Cloud ERP Acumatica Broader verified functional footprint than any Epicor record allows, with a dedicated Manufacturing edition plus finance, project accounting, payroll and multi-entity accounting named on one accessible page. If what you want is to be able to check claims before a sales process, this is the clearest contrast with Epicor, whose site returned HTTP 403 on six paths.
QAD Adaptive ERP QAD Comparable positioning in mid-market and enterprise manufacturing, with EDI as a named in-product module and traceability and quality as first-class modules, which matters in automotive and regulated manufacturing. Most finance capability is unverified because no dedicated QAD ERP product page could be read.
Plex Smart Manufacturing Platform Rockwell Automation Relevant only if your real need is shop floor execution rather than ERP. Rockwell describes the capabilities to investors as manufacturing execution, quality and supply chain management and names no ERP or finance function, so ERP breadth should not be assumed. Verified as a single-instance multi-tenant SaaS platform owned by Rockwell since August 2021.
Epicor Prophet 21 Epicor Only if your requirement is actually distribution rather than manufacturing, since Epicor runs two main lines and buyers are often shown the wrong one. Be aware Prophet 21 has the shortest on-premises runway of the Epicor lines: final feature release 2028.1 tentatively May 2028, Active Support to 30 June 2029, Sustaining Support from 1 July 2029.

Compared with other products

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Epicor named Kinetic alongside Prophet 21 and BisTrack in a press release dated 6 January 2026 setting out their final on-premises feature release schedules, which confirms Kinetic is a current, actively released product.

With release 2028.1, tentatively scheduled January 2028. Active Support for 2028.1 runs through 31 December 2029 and Sustaining Support begins 1 January 2030. Epicor describes the dates as tentative, so get committed dates in writing. After that point Epicor states that future innovation moves exclusively to the Epicor Cloud.

Kinetic is widely understood to be the current name for what was marketed as Epicor ERP, which descends from the Vantage and Vista lines. The rename itself was not confirmed from a source opened in this research, though the Kinetic name is confirmed as current from Epicor s own press release.

Because no Epicor product page could be read. epicor.com returned HTTP 403 Forbidden on six different paths, docs.epicor.com does not resolve, the Australian regional site failed its TLS handshake and businesswire.com returned 403. Publishing a feature list from memory or from review aggregators would be worse than publishing nothing.
