Epicor Kinetic versus Syspro ERP
This comparison cannot be made on features, so it is built on lifecycle and deployment commitment instead, which is what actually decides it. No functional capability could be verified for Epicor Kinetic. epicor.com returned HTTP 403 Forbidden on six separate paths including the Kinetic product page, the cloud platform pages, the home page and the blog. docs.epicor.com does not resolve at all. epicor.com.au failed its TLS handshake. Manufacturing, general ledger and any documented API are all recorded as unknown for Kinetic, meaning not verifiable from published sources, not absent.
But something far more decision-relevant was verified, from an Epicor press release of 6 January 2026 read via a syndicated republication that explicitly labels it a paid press release with Epicor as the source, making it vendor-authored. Epicor has announced the end of on-premises Kinetic. Release 2028.1, tentatively January 2028, is the final on-premises feature release. Active Support runs through 31 December 2029. Sustaining Support begins 1 January 2030. Epicor states that these releases mark the transition of future innovation for these platforms exclusively to the Epicor Cloud. Epicor Prophet 21, the distribution line, has a shorter runway still: final on-premises feature release 2028.1 tentatively May 2028, Active Support through 30 June 2029, Sustaining Support from 1 July 2029.
Syspro ERP is the opposite kind of record. syspro.com was accessible and the home page was read in full, yielding nine verified capabilities: general ledger and cash book, accounts payable, accounts receivable, assets register, tax management, procurement with landed cost tracking, warehouse management and lot traceability, and a manufacturing module set naming bill of materials, material requirements planning, work in progress, product configurator, quality management, enterprise asset management and engineering change control, plus business intelligence. The current release line is Syspro 8 2026 R2.

Full profileThe main differences
The lifecycle question comes first
If you are an on-premises manufacturer, or you have a regulatory, latency or data residency reason to run ERP in your own environment, Epicor has told you in advance that the on-premises path ends. That is to Epicor credit as disclosure: the company has committed its future investment clearly rather than leaving it ambiguous. It is still a hard constraint. A 2028 final feature release and a 2030 move to Sustaining Support is not far away in ERP terms, where implementations run five to ten years. If you sign an on-premises Kinetic deal in 2026, you are signing for a platform whose feature roadmap stops inside the normal life of the implementation.
Syspro deployment is described as cloud-first, so cloud is verified yes, but on-premises is recorded as unknown rather than available, despite a large traditional installed base. So do not assume Syspro is the on-premises answer either. Ask, and get the answer in writing with a support horizon attached.
Evidence quality
Syspro is one of the better-evidenced records in this category and Epicor Kinetic is one of the worst, and that gap is caused entirely by Epicor refusing automated access to its own published material. Epicor Kinetic is a substantial, long-established manufacturing ERP. The problem is that a buyer can verify its lifecycle dates but not a single functional capability from public material. In distribution and manufacturing, where rebates, special pricing agreements, EDI, configurators and engineering change control decide the outcome, that is a real handicap on your evaluation.
Naming history
Kinetic has carried several names over time, including Vantage, Vista, Epicor ERP and now Kinetic, which makes secondary research unusually prone to describing a superseded version. Treat any third-party Epicor feature list with suspicion unless it names the release. Syspro styles the brand Syspro rather than the all-capitals form often seen, and gives the product name as Syspro ERP.
What Syspro does not publish
Multi-company consolidation, multi-currency, HR and payroll, project accounting and any documented API are not stated on the Syspro site, which are significant gaps in public information for an internationally sold ERP. A Syspro Marketplace for third-party add-ons is referenced, which implies integration but does not document it. A Mobile Warehouse module is named, indicating mobile use in the warehouse specifically, but general mobile access to the product was not claimed. Raise multi-company and multi-currency early if you have more than one entity or country.

Not verified means the capability has not been checked for that product. It does not mean the product lacks it. Blank cells and unverified rows are never counted as a "no".

Epicor Kinetic

Read the full assessmentWhich to choose
If you need on-premises ERP with a long feature roadmap, Epicor Kinetic is not it, and Epicor has said so itself. That is the cleanest decision rule in this comparison. If you are happy on vendor-run cloud, Kinetic stays a legitimate candidate, because Epicor has committed its future innovation to Epicor Cloud unambiguously. Just negotiate the commercial consequences of the cloud-only transition up front rather than discovering them at your first forced migration.
Choose Syspro if you want manufacturing depth you can verify today and a narrow, explicit target of mid-sized companies in nine named industries, which makes it easy to tell whether you are in scope. The release reference to Syspro 8 2026 R2 and a 2026 copyright confirm active development.
Neither publishes a price. Syspro site line about no generic ERP compromises or price tag is marketing copy, not a price. For Epicor it could not be established whether any list price is published. Treat both as quotation-only and ask the same questions: the licensing metric, what the on-premises to cloud transition costs, and what support horizon you are buying. Our cloud versus on-premise TCO analysis is directly relevant here, because Epicor has removed the on-premises option from the medium-term equation for you.
Frequently asked questions
No. The product is current and actively released. What has an announced end point is the on-premises deployment option. Epicor has set release 2028.1, tentatively January 2028, as the final on-premises feature release, with Active Support through 31 December 2029 and Sustaining Support from 1 January 2030, and states that future innovation for these platforms moves exclusively to the Epicor Cloud.
Because epicor.com returned HTTP 403 Forbidden on six separate paths and docs.epicor.com does not resolve, so no product page could be read. Manufacturing, general ledger and any API are recorded as unknown, meaning not verifiable from published sources. Epicor positions the platforms for the make, move and sell industries, but that is positioning rather than a module claim.
Prophet 21 is a separate current Epicor product for distribution, and it has the shortest on-premises runway of the Epicor lines: final on-premises feature release 2028.1 tentatively May 2028, Active Support through 30 June 2029, Sustaining Support from 1 July 2029. Because Epicor runs two main ERP lines for different segments, make sure you are being shown the right one for a manufacturing or a distribution requirement.
Unknown. Syspro describes deployment as cloud-first, so cloud is verified, but on-premises is not stated on the vendor site and is recorded as unknown despite a large traditional installed base. If on-premises is a requirement, get the answer and the support horizon in writing.
