ERPNext Alternatives
ERPNext is the most genuinely free option in this category. Frappe states that ERPNext is free and open-source software and always will remain so, and describes the self-hosted software as GPL-3.0 licensed, noting that you pay absolutely nothing for running and managing it yourself. Frappe Cloud hosting is priced by resource consumption and explicitly not per user, from 5 dollars a month for the entry Sites plan, with Servers plans from 20 dollars and from 125 dollars. Both US dollars and Indian rupees are printed on the page, so the currency is stated rather than inferred, although the two figures are regional pricing rather than conversions.
People look for alternatives for two honest reasons, and Frappe is candid about the first one itself. Free of licence cost is not free of cost. Cloud providers still charge hosting fees for self-hosting, and the operational burden of running the system falls on you. It takes real technical capability in-house to adopt safely, and if you do not have that, the licence saving evaporates into staff time and risk.
The second is statutory compliance. Nothing about multi-jurisdiction statutory compliance was verified for ERPNext in this directory, and that is the usual weak point for open-source ERP outside its core markets. Note that no functional capability at all was verified here, because only the Frappe pricing page was read in the verification pass. ERPNext has accounting, manufacturing and other modules with public documentation; none of it was sourced, so nothing is claimed either way. If you operate somewhere with strict e-invoicing or statutory filing obligations, test that first and hardest.
The alternatives below cover both exits. Odoo if you want to stay open-core but have a vendor run it, with the Custom plan caveat on multi-company and API access. Business Central or Acumatica if you want a commercially supported suite with a verified module list and someone else carrying the operations. Cetec or ERPAG if you liked ERPNext cost transparency and want a hosted product that publishes figures too. See also Business Central versus ERPNext.

The alternatives, and why they are here
Selected on capability and use case rather than on sharing a category label. Each entry says what actually differs.
Odoo
Odoo
Modular open-core business suite with a genuinely free single-app tier and published per-user pricing. Multi-company and external API access are reserved for the top Custom plan.
Why consider it: The other open-source-rooted suite, and the obvious head to head. Odoo publishes per-user pricing with the currency stated and offers a genuinely free One App tier, but multi-company and external API access are gated to the Custom plan at roughly double the Standard rate, and the Standard discount is valid for only 12 months. Per-user pricing is worse than resource-based pricing for wide, shallow user bases.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
Microsoft
Microsoft single-application ERP for small and medium-sized companies, covering finance, fixed assets, sales, purchasing, inventory, projects, HR, manufacturing, warehouse and service. A different product from Dynamics 365 Finance.
Why consider it: The commercially supported comparison most ERPNext evaluations end up making, with ten capabilities verified from accessible Microsoft documentation and a named target segment of small and medium-sized companies. See our Business Central versus ERPNext article. The trade is licence cost and lock-in against an operational burden you no longer carry.

Cetec ERP
Cetec ERP
Manufacturing ERP with fully itemised public pricing: 50 dollars per user per month with a five-user minimum, plus separately priced support tiers, hosting options and integrations.
Why consider it: A commercial manufacturing option for buyers who like ERPNext cost transparency but want a vendor to run it: 50 dollars per user per month with a five-user minimum, shop floor users at 25, and support, hosting, EDI, BI, test instances and integrations all individually published. The headline is well below real cost, and the currency is inferred from Cetec being a US vendor rather than stated.

ERPAG
ERPAG
Small business ERP with published tiered pricing from 49 to 199 a month, each tier including five users and 10 GB of database, with additional users at 9 a month. Free 15-day trial, no free version.
Why consider it: A low-cost hosted alternative for very small organisations that do not want to run anything themselves, at 49 to 199 a month with five users included. Every tier is capped at a 10 GB database, the larger database licence is quoted only approximately, and no functional capability could be sourced, so the trial has to do all your evaluation work.

Acumatica Cloud ERP
Acumatica
Cloud ERP suite sold in six industry editions covering financials, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, project accounting and payroll. Owned by Vista Equity Partners since 2025, not EQT.
Why consider it: The step up to a verified commercial mid-market suite if ERPNext functional or statutory gaps turn out to be real for your jurisdictions, with eight capabilities named on one accessible page including manufacturing, project accounting, payroll and multi-entity accounting. No published pricing and no disclosed licensing metric.

What this page is not
This is not a ranking and there is no single best alternative. The right choice depends on what you are replacing and why, which is why each entry states a specific reason rather than a score. Capability values come from each product's structured profile, where anything unverified is labelled as such rather than assumed.
