Amazon QuickSight
by Amazon Web Services
AWS's serverless BI service, priced largely on usage and designed to sit close to AWS data sources.
What it is
QuickSight is the BI service you reach for when the data already lives in AWS. It is serverless, so there is no capacity to provision, and its pay-per-session reader pricing is genuinely distinctive: for a large, occasional audience it can cost far less than per-seat alternatives.
Its in-memory engine, SPICE, handles the caching layer, and the service integrates cleanly with Redshift, S3 and Athena. Embedding is well supported, which makes it a practical choice for customer-facing dashboards inside an AWS-hosted product.
Authoring is less sophisticated than the category leaders. Teams used to Tableau or Power BI generally find the modelling and formatting more constrained.
Capabilities
Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.

| Published price | USD 24 per author per month |
| Note | Read from the AWS pricing page on 7 November 2026: Author USD 24 and Author Pro USD 40 per user per month; Reader USD 3 and Reader Pro USD 20 per user per month. A reader capacity plan is USD 250 per month for 500 sessions with additional sessions at USD 0.50, a session being a 30-minute period. In some regions an account with a Pro user or Q&A enabled carries a USD 250 per month infrastructure fee, which is easy to miss. |

Who it suits
Organisation sizes: Small, Medium, Enterprise
AWS-centred teams, and any case with a wide but infrequent reader audience where session-based pricing changes the economics. Also sound for embedding into AWS-hosted applications.
Less suitable where sophisticated modelling or chart craft matters, or outside AWS.

Frequently asked questions
Readers are charged per session rather than per seat, up to a monthly cap per reader. For an audience that opens a dashboard occasionally this is usually cheaper than buying everyone a licence; for daily heavy users it converges on per-seat cost. Model it against your actual usage pattern before assuming a saving.
