What it is

This is a service, and Augury says so itself, which is refreshing. Augury states that it does not sell hardware and instead delivers Diagnostics as a Service, covering sensors, software, connectivity, installation, support, updates and unlimited diagnostics for a flat per-machine fee billed annually. That single sentence settles the question this directory most needs answered about Augury. You are not buying a software licence and you are not buying sensors; you are buying an annual per-machine monitoring subscription in which Augury supplies and owns the measurement chain. Augury’s terms do note that routine hardware maintenance such as battery replacement is performed by customer personnel following Augury instructions, so some labour stays with you.

Product naming. Augury markets two products: Machine Health, described as prescriptive AI machine diagnostics to predict and prevent industrial machine failure, and Process Health, which Augury states was previously known as Seebo, the process optimisation company it acquired. This profile covers Machine Health, which is the APM-relevant product. Augury also uses the framing Industrial AI Workforce and names an Operations Agent, a Reliability Agent and Auguscope under Machine Health, but it does not explain what those do, so they are not recorded as capabilities.

Sensor requirement: yes, and they are Augury’s. The service includes Augury sensors as part of the fee. Augury describes a patent-pending combination of vibration, temperature, ultrasound and magnetic field sensor data, which is a more diverse measurement set than vibration-only competitors, and the ultrasound element is specifically relevant to very low-speed equipment where vibration signatures are weak. Coverage is described across more than two hundred asset types and four criticality levels. Because the sensors come with the service, there is no question of using your existing instrumentation: this is a parallel monitoring layer installed on your machines, not an analytics layer over data you already have.

On integration, Augury says it integrates with a variety of software platforms and has engineers to enable integration into the systems you use, but names no specific platform, no CMMS, no API and no ERP anywhere on its public product pages. That is a real gap for a buyer who needs findings in a work order queue, and it should be pinned down contractually. On mechanism, Augury names its sensor modalities clearly but does not describe the models, the training requirement or the failure modes addressed, so failure prediction and anomaly detection are recorded as unknown. Augury publishes a Forrester study with ROI and payback figures; none are recorded here. Independent reviews note that deployment is resource-intensive to inventory assets, deploy sensors and calibrate.

Capabilities

Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.

CapabilityStatusNotes
Sensor connectivity Connecting to sensors, whether the vendor supplies them or not. Yes Sensors, connectivity and installation are included in the service. These are Augury sensors; there is no stated support for existing third-party instrumentation. source
Asset health scoring Composite asset health or condition indices. Yes Machine Health is described as machine diagnostics across asset types with criticality levels. source
Vibration analysis Vibration measurement and spectral analysis. Yes Augury names a combination of vibration, temperature, ultrasound and magnetic field sensor data as the basis of Machine Health diagnostics. source
Condition monitoring Monitoring asset condition from sensor or process data. Yes Core offering: continuous machine health monitoring using Augury-supplied sensors, delivered as a service with unlimited diagnostics. source
Documented API A publicly documented API for integration. Not verified No API documentation found on Augury public pages.
Reporting and dashboards Reliability and condition reporting and dashboards. Not verified
Work order and CMMS integration Creating or updating maintenance work from APM output. Not verified Augury says it integrates with a variety of software platforms but names no CMMS or work order system anywhere public.
SCADA and historian integration Reading from process historians, SCADA or control systems. Not verified
Digital twin A simulation or model-based twin of physical assets. Not verified Not described.
Root cause analysis Structured root cause analysis of failures. Not verified Diagnostics are referenced but no root cause capability is described.
FMEA support Failure mode and effects analysis within the product. Not verified
Reliability-centred maintenance Structured RCM analysis and strategy development. Not verified
Reliability modelling Reliability and availability modelling of assets or systems. Not verified No RCM or FMEA method named.
Failure prediction Predicting failure or remaining useful life. Recorded only where a source describes it, not from AI claims. Not verified Augury markets prescriptive AI diagnostics to predict and prevent failure but names no model, no data requirement and no failure modes. Claim without described mechanism, so unknown. No accuracy or lead-time figures recorded.
Anomaly detection Detecting deviation from normal behaviour. Recorded only where a source describes the mechanism. Not verified No anomaly detection mechanism described.

NoteThe pricing MODEL is published by Augury and is unusually clear: a flat fee per machine, billed annually, covering sensors, software, connectivity, installation, support, updates and unlimited diagnostics, with Augury stating it does not sell hardware. The AMOUNT is not published anywhere on augury.com; the pricing page offers only a value calculator and a contact route. pricing_public is therefore 0 because no figure exists to record. Model the multi-year subscription cost, not a one-off licence.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Unusually honest commercial model. Augury states it does not sell hardware and delivers Diagnostics as a Service covering sensors, software, connectivity, installation, support, updates and unlimited diagnostics for a flat per machine annual fee. verified source
  • Multi-modal sensing rather than vibration only: Augury names vibration, temperature, ultrasound and magnetic field data, which addresses low-speed equipment that vibration-only monitoring handles poorly. verified source

Limitations

  • You cannot use your existing sensors. Augury supplies the measurement chain as part of the service, so prior instrumentation investment is not leveraged. verified source
  • No named integration anywhere public, no CMMS and no API, despite integration being claimed generically. Get it specified contractually. editorial

Who it suits

Organisation sizes: Medium, Enterprise

Fits: manufacturers that want machine health coverage without owning any part of the stack. Food and beverage, consumer packaged goods, pharmaceuticals, paper, metals and water utilities are the typical sectors, and the flat per-machine annual fee makes budgeting unusually predictable for this category. It suits organisations with no vibration analysis capability, since diagnostics are unlimited and included, and those with slow-turning or low-speed equipment, where the ultrasound modality addresses a genuine blind spot in vibration-only monitoring. Multi-site manufacturers scaling a standard monitoring offer across plants are well served.

Does not fit: organisations that already have instrumentation and want analytics over it, because Augury brings its own sensors and the service model gives you no route to use what you have. It is a poor fit where IT or OT policy prohibits a vendor-managed cloud data path, since no on-premises option was verified. It is also unsuitable where automated work order creation is a hard requirement, because no named CMMS integration or API is published. Organisations that want to own the diagnostic model, or exit without losing the capability, should note that ending the subscription ends the monitoring.

Typical use cases: standing up machine health monitoring across a few hundred motors, pumps, fans, compressors and gearboxes with no internal analyst; covering low-RPM equipment where vibration alone is insufficient; adding a predictable annual per-machine cost line instead of a capital sensor project; getting consistent diagnostics across plants with uneven local reliability maturity.

Buyer caution: because this is a subscription with vendor-owned sensors, model the multi-year cost and the exit position before signing, and get the integration path to your CMMS written into the contract rather than left to a promise that engineers can enable it.

Alternatives

Nanoprecise MachineDoctor Nanoprecise Sci Corp The decisive alternative if you already have sensors. Augury supplies the whole measurement chain and cannot use your existing instrumentation; Nanoprecise states RotationLF is sensor agnostic and can ingest existing vibration sensor data, and can run on private cloud or on-premises. Its six-in-one sensor adds acoustic emission and true RPM. The cost model differs in shape: per sensor per year scales linearly where Augury is a flat fee per machine per year.
WATCHMAN by Azima DLI, a Fluke Reliability company Fluke Reliability (Fortive) The nearest peer in commercial shape: a subscription vibration monitoring service with vendor hardware and, in Fluke's case, ISO Level II to IV certified analysts providing coaching and second opinions on top of WATCHMAN analytics. Like Augury it states no third-party sensor support and describes no API or CMMS integration, not even to Fluke's own eMaint. Augury's multi-modal sensing, including ultrasound, does not carry over.
Infinite Uptime PlantOS Infinite Uptime A managed offering with vendor sensing and 24x7 human review like Augury, but less closed: it states that existing third-party sensor, PLC and historian data can be ingested with no rip-and-replace, names Dynamic FMEA, and issues prescriptions as work orders over an open API, which answers Augury's biggest integration gap. It publishes no deployment architecture and the Production Outcomes as a Service structure is an outcome contract rather than a scoped licence.
Senseye Predictive Maintenance Siemens Only viable if you already collect condition data, and worth naming for exactly that reason. Senseye is licensable software, not a service, and Siemens states signals arrive through your existing data collection systems and that it integrates with any asset, system or data source, with developer documentation for machine data and work orders. It supplies no sensors and no analysts, so neither the measurement chain nor the unlimited diagnostics carry over.
