What it is

BirchStreet is hospitality procurement and operations, explicitly and exclusively. It describes itself as the only complete AI-powered hospitality operations platform purpose-built for the industry, while also using the phrase hospitality procure-to-pay solutions. Segments each have their own page: hotels and resorts, hospitality management companies, casinos and gaming, food services and facilities management, private club management, and group purchasing organisations, with functional pages for purchasing, food and beverage operations, culinary operations, warehouse operations, finance and executive leadership. It claims partnerships spanning nine of the top ten hotel brands and seven of the top ten hospitality management companies.

The product set is ten named items: eProcurement, Touchless Invoicing, Smart AP, BirchStreet SmartPay, Inventory Management, Recipe Management, Events Management, RFQ Sourcing, Capital Projects and Data and Insights. The last four of those first six are the real differentiator: inventory, recipe costing, events and capital projects are hospitality-operations functions no horizontal procure-to-pay vendor offers. eProcurement states cloud-based automation of the entire buying cycle, automated approvals, product catalogue maintenance, easy supplier onboarding, and automated three-way matching of purchase orders, invoices and data. RFQ Sourcing provides web-based corporate and property-level RFQ review and selection, hospitality taxonomy covering food and beverage, furniture fixtures and equipment, and operating supplies and equipment, bill-of-quantity generation from awarded items, punch-out and supplier on-the-fly onboarding, a supplier network stated at more than 400,000 suppliers, and group purchasing leverage described as buying 15 to 20 percent below market price.

Despite the module being called RFQ Sourcing, this is not an e-sourcing tool, and that is verified from the module page itself. Bid comparison and scoring are not mentioned. Reverse auctions are not mentioned. Sourcing events are not named. What it does is eRFQ review, selection and award. A buyer who reads the module name as e-sourcing will be disappointed, and anyone needing weighted evaluation or auctions should look at Market Dojo, Keelvar or the full suites in this category.

Public technical disclosure is the thinnest of any product in this category and that should weigh in a shortlist decision. There is no integrations page and no integrations navigation item anywhere on the site, which was enumerated in full, so no ERP connectivity is even asserted on the eProcurement page. There is no API documentation and no developer site. There is no pricing page and no pricing navigation item, so no figure, unit, currency or tier is published anywhere. No supplier portal is described, only punch-out and supplier on-the-fly onboarding, though a For Suppliers resource page exists. Purchase requisitions are, surprisingly, not mentioned on the eProcurement page at all, and neither is budget control. For a hospitality procure-to-pay suite with a twenty-four year history, publishing no integration list at all is a genuine gap.

Ownership was specifically checked and is confirmed to the level the public record allows. The current owner is Parthenon Capital, which lists BirchStreet with status Active in its own representative investments listing, filtered between Active and Exited. Parthenon own press release dated 27 January 2022 announced an investment in BirchStreet alongside existing investor Serent Capital, with terms undisclosed. The BirchStreet timeline corroborates both legs, recording a Series A from Serent Capital in 2017 and a strategic investment from Parthenon Capital in 2021, which is a signing-versus-announcement discrepancy with Parthenon January 2022 release rather than a conflict about who invested. What remains unknown: whether Parthenon holds a majority or control stake, since the release says only an investment, the Parthenon-Serent equity split, and whether Serent has exited. No later sale, merger or recapitalisation was found.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • The deepest hospitality-vertical functionality in this category and not replicable by horizontal vendors: alongside eProcurement and accounts payable it ships Inventory Management, Recipe Management, Events Management and Capital Projects. verified source
  • Three-way matching stated outright as automated three-way matching of purchase orders, invoices and data, alongside cloud delivery and automated approvals. verified source
  • Industry-specific sourcing scaffolding: food and beverage, furniture fixtures and equipment, and operating supplies and equipment taxonomy, property-level RFQ review, bill-of-quantity generation from awarded items, a 400,000-plus supplier network and group purchasing leverage. verified source

Limitations

  • Despite the module name RFQ Sourcing, there are no auctions, no bid comparison or scoring and no strategic sourcing events: it is RFQ review and award only. verified source
  • The thinnest public technical disclosure in this category: no integrations page or navigation item anywhere, no API documentation, no pricing and no described supplier portal. ERP integration is not even asserted on the eProcurement page. verified source
  • Hospitality-only by design, so irrelevant outside that vertical, and the company is in flux: an unannounced rebrand to BirchStreet.AI with a domain move, bolt-on acquisitions in 2024 and 2025, and a new chief executive as of August 2026. editorial

Who it suits

Organisation sizes: Not stated

BirchStreet fits hospitality operators and nobody else. The honest test is whether you need recipe costing, beverage and food inventory, events and capital projects sitting on the same data as purchasing and accounts payable. If you do, nothing horizontal in this category comes close, and the hospitality taxonomy across food and beverage, furniture fixtures and equipment, and operating supplies and equipment, plus group purchasing leverage and a 400,000-plus supplier network, is genuinely hard to replicate. The Cedar Creek acquisition and the private clubs segment suggest reach down into smaller single-site operators alongside the large hotel brands, though BirchStreet states no organisation size bands, so all three size flags are left unset here rather than guessed.

It fits poorly outside hospitality, by design. Within hospitality, weigh three things. First, its RFQ Sourcing module is RFQ review and award, not e-sourcing: no bid scoring, no auctions, no sourcing events. Second, the public technical disclosure is the weakest in this category, with no integrations page, no API documentation, no pricing and no described supplier portal, so almost all technical diligence must happen in a sales process. Third, the entry is in flux: an unannounced rebrand with a domain move, two bolt-on acquisitions in 2024 and 2025, and a new chief executive as of August 2026, which is a lot of change to absorb during an implementation.

Typical use cases: a multi-property hotel group standardising purchasing, invoice processing and payments; a casino or resort needing beverage inventory and recipe costing alongside procurement; a hospitality management company running capital projects and events procurement in the same system; a group purchasing organisation leveraging contracted rates across member properties.

Alternatives

Order.co Order.co, independent and venture-backed The nearest horizontal equivalent for a multi-site operator and a partial substitute only. It covers requisitions, approvals, purchase orders, custom catalogues, AP automation with three-way matching, budgets, virtual cards and working capital at a published flat 1,000 to 5,000 USD per month. What does not carry over is the entire hospitality layer: no recipe costing, no food and beverage inventory, no events and no capital projects.
Vroozi SpendTech Vroozi, Inc. A horizontal procure-to-pay alternative that closes BirchStreet biggest disclosure gaps: named ERP integrations for SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Deltek Costpoint, IBM and Microsoft Dynamics, explicit webhooks, a public API documentation site, a named Supplier Portal, budget control and requisitions, none of which BirchStreet publishes. Not carried over: the hospitality vertical functions and the 400,000-plus supplier network with group purchasing leverage.
Procurify Procurify A horizontal procure-to-pay option with a Vendor Portal, budget management, contract management and spend insights as named modules plus a published PunchOut list, so it answers the requisition and budget gaps BirchStreet eProcurement page leaves open. Not carried over: everything hospitality-specific, namely inventory, recipe costing, events and capital projects, and the hospitality taxonomy and group purchasing leverage.
Market Dojo Market Dojo Ltd, a company of Esker A complement for the sourcing half, and the labelling matters because BirchStreet module is called RFQ Sourcing but has no scoring and no auctions, offering RFQ review and award only. Market Dojo is e-sourcing only and adds weighted scoring, multi-stage tenders and forward, reverse, ranked and Japanese eAuctions, with a stated price from 1,000 pounds per month. It carries over nothing transactional, so run it beside BirchStreet.

Frequently asked questions

No, despite having a module called RFQ Sourcing. That module page does not mention bid comparison or scoring, reverse auctions or sourcing events. What it provides is web-based corporate and property-level RFQ review, selection and award, with hospitality taxonomy, bill-of-quantity generation and group purchasing leverage.

Parthenon Capital, which lists BirchStreet with status Active in its own representative investments listing. Parthenon announced an investment on 27 January 2022 alongside existing investor Serent Capital, with terms undisclosed; the BirchStreet timeline records a Serent Series A in 2017 and the Parthenon investment in 2021. Whether Parthenon holds a majority, the equity split, and whether Serent has exited are all unknown.

birchstreetai.com, with the name styled BirchStreet or BirchStreet.AI. birchstreetsystems.com now 301-redirects there, which was observed directly, and the legacy name BirchStreet Systems still appears in the company own 2024 press releases and social handles. The rebrand is not announced anywhere on the site.
