Zuper vs FieldPulse

Two SMB field service products for small and mid-size service contractors, neither of which publishes a price. Both are clearly aimed at residential trades rather than enterprise, and both wrap a conventional field service base in an AI layer. The useful distinctions between them are integration breadth on one side and offline evidence on the other, and those point in opposite directions.

On the commercial side, FieldPulse states it is seat-based and that pricing is built around what your team needs, with a Get a Custom Quote call to action and no named or priced tiers. Zuper is more unusual still: there is no pricing page at all. Both expected pricing URLs returned HTTP 404 and no pricing link appears anywhere in site navigation. The only commercial statement found is that costs vary based on company size and the specific tools or modules needed, so even the licensing model is unverified. Neither free trial could be resolved: the FieldPulse answer to its own free-trial FAQ renders client-side and did not load, and the Zuper homepage invites visitors to test drive but the only destination found is a demo page.

One vendor-diligence note on Zuper. It is live and actively marketed, with no acquisition, merger or shutdown statement on any vendor page, so it does still exist independently. But its about page names only Zuper and Zuper AI, lists co-founders, and shows an investor logo wall naming FUSE, Kin Ventures, HubSpot, Zendesk, Peak XV and Prime with no amounts, rounds or dates. There is no legal entity name, no headquarters and no copyright line. For some procurement processes that will be a blocker. FieldPulse by contrast states it was established in 2015 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, with US-based support.

The main differences

Offline: the sharpest contrast in this pairing

FieldPulse has the most mechanically specific offline documentation of any small-contractor product in this category. It states that the team keeps working in the field when signal drops, that when the device hits weak signal or switches to Airplane Mode the app moves to Offline Mode on its own, and that anything a technician enters offline saves locally and syncs the second they are back in signal. Automatic switching plus local save and sync is a materially stronger claim than the read-only caching Housecall Pro offers, and it avoids the self-contradictions that leave Jobber and ServiceTitan offline status unverified.

Zuper offline is the thinnest evidence in the entire category. Offline mobile access is listed on the homepage and appears as a navigation item, but no descriptive text was found anywhere on the pages opened, and the mobile section instead stresses real-time data. It is recorded as supported on the strength of the vendor label alone, and this directory deliberately will not describe how it behaves, because there is nothing to describe. A higher evidence bar would justify marking it unverified outright. If dead-zone working is a requirement, that asymmetry should decide this comparison on its own.

Integrations: the clearest Zuper advantage

Zuper has the widest named integration surface among the small-contractor products here. It names Salesforce, HubSpot, QuickBooks, Xero, Sage Intacct, Stripe and Microsoft Teams, among a claimed 60-plus integrations. Supporting both QuickBooks and Xero puts it ahead of FieldPulse, Housecall Pro and FieldEdge, all of which name QuickBooks only. FieldPulse names only QuickBooks as an accounting integration; Xero is not on its partners page, and neither are Zapier, Stripe or Twilio. The FieldPulse partner list is otherwise lead generation, payments and trade supply, naming Wisetack, CompanyCam, NiceJob, Azuga, CardConnect, Clover Connect, Payrix, Acorn Finance, Angi, Thumbtack, Trane and Reece HVAC among others.

Neither has an assessable API. FieldPulse partners page says technology partners can use an open API, but no public developer or API documentation URL was found, so that is unverified. The Zuper product page says it offers API integration, but docs.zuper.co documents product features only, with no endpoints, authentication or webhooks, and no developer portal was found. Treat custom integration as a risk you cannot size before signing on either product.

Footprint and vertical weighting

FieldPulse covers scheduling and dispatch, work orders, estimates and invoices, job costing, inventory, a customer portal, maintenance agreements and a pricebook, plus AI add-ons including an Operator AI dispatcher and a Maverick office assistant. Target trades are HVAC, electrical, plumbing, garage door, locksmith, appliance repair, septic, fire and security, property management and audio visual. Its route optimisation is a label only, with no mechanism described on the pages opened, and Fleet Tracking is a priced add-on that the vendor never calls GPS.

Zuper sits on work orders including subcontractor work orders, a dispatch board, quoting, job costing, inventory, asset management, invoicing and Zuper Pay, with a heavy agent layer: a CSR Agent, Field Agent, Sales Coach, Weather and Reputation agents, an AR Agent described as coming soon, an Agent Studio and Zuper Sense. Its current marketing skews strongly to roofing and exterior trades, with aerial measurement and supply partners such as Hover, EagleView, RoofScope, GAF QuickMeasure, ABC Supply and SRS Distribution named alongside the mainstream integrations. Buyers outside exterior trades should probe depth in their own vertical rather than assume it.

Zuper customer portal is the broader of the two: customers can review jobs, assets, quotes and contracts, which is wider scope than most portals at this tier. The FieldPulse portal gives clients access to view job details, request services and communicate with the team. Both products support maintenance agreements, FieldPulse as a named Maintenance Agreements feature and Zuper through contracts exposed in the portal.

On add-ons, read both pricing conversations carefully. FieldPulse lists Engage, Operator AI, Chat AI, Pricebook, FieldPulse Payments, FieldPulse Financing, Fleet Tracking and Custom Forms as optional premium products, all unpriced, with Maverick included on all plans. So payments, fleet tracking and custom forms are not in the seat rate.

Offline working Yes NOW FULLY DOCUMENTED. DOES NOT WORK OFFLINE, per explicit vendor statements: job accept and reject, chat messages and notifications, quotes and invoices, and pre-existing file attachments are not cached. Not verified means the capability has not been checked for that product. It does not mean the product lacks it. Blank cells and unverified rows are never counted as a "no".

Strengths and limitations

Drawn from each product's own profile, where every item is labelled a verified fact or an editorial judgement.

Which to choose

If your accounting lives in Xero, or you need a customer portal that exposes contracts and assets as well as jobs, or you are a roofing and exterior trades business that will use the aerial measurement and supplier partners, Zuper is the better fit. Go in knowing that no pricing page exists, that offline is a navigation label with nothing behind it, and that no legal entity, headquarters or founding year is disclosed.

If your crews lose signal, FieldPulse is the stronger choice and it is not a close call: it is the only product in the small-contractor group that describes the offline mechanism rather than asserting the capability. It is also the better pick for a QuickBooks-centric US residential trades business or franchise group wanting one system rather than best-of-breed parts. Price the add-ons explicitly rather than assuming the seat rate covers payments, fleet tracking, custom forms or the AI products.

Neither targets enterprise, and neither should be shortlisted by a buyer who needs published pricing to narrow a field.

Frequently asked questions

FieldPulse, decisively on evidence. It states that the app switches to Offline Mode on its own when the device hits weak signal or Airplane Mode, and that anything entered offline saves locally and syncs as soon as signal returns. Zuper lists offline mobile access as a homepage item and a navigation label, but no descriptive text was found anywhere, making it the thinnest offline evidence in this category.

Neither. FieldPulse states pricing is seat-based and built around what your team needs, with a custom quote and no named or priced tiers. Zuper has no pricing page at all: both expected pricing URLs return a 404 and no pricing link appears in site navigation, so even the licensing model is unverified.

Zuper. It names Xero alongside QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe and Microsoft Teams. FieldPulse names only QuickBooks on its partners page, so Xero users should prefer Zuper or confirm support with FieldPulse directly.

Yes. zuper.co is live and actively marketed with its own demo funnel and no acquisition, merger or shutdown notice on any vendor page. However, its about page discloses no legal entity name, headquarters or founding year, so the vendor entity itself is not formally verified here. That is worth knowing if you run formal procurement diligence.
