GoodData
by GoodData
A headless, API-first analytics platform aimed at embedding governed metrics into other applications.
What it is
GoodData describes itself as headless analytics, and the label is accurate. The semantic model, metric definitions and APIs are the product; the interface is optional. You consume metrics through APIs and render them wherever you like.
That suits teams building analytics into their own application who want a governed metric layer without inheriting someone else's interface. Deployment is flexible, including containerised self-hosting.
As an off-the-shelf tool for an internal finance team it is not the obvious pick. It expects developers, and its value shows up in engineering workflows rather than in a dashboard gallery.
Capabilities
Each capability carries its own verification status. “Not verified” means exactly that: it has not been checked, and must not be read as absent.

Who it suits
Organisation sizes: Medium, Enterprise
Product and platform teams embedding governed analytics into their own software, with developers available and a preference for API-first architecture.
Not a fit for a business team wanting a self-service tool out of the box.

Frequently asked questions
The metric and semantic layer is exposed through APIs rather than being locked to a supplied interface. You define metrics once and then render them in your own application, a notebook, or GoodData's own UI. The governance lives in the layer, not the front end.
