SkySpark Alternatives
SkySpark is the deepest analytics and fault detection toolkit in this category, and most buyers who look for alternatives are not looking for more depth. They are looking for less project.
What SkySpark gives you is substantial and should be acknowledged before you walk away from it. More than 500 built in analytic functions plus a Rule App for writing your own. Open published APIs and a native Project Haystack REST API, supporting a consistent semantic data model across mixed vendor equipment. Deployment on premises, in the cloud, at the edge or on the desktop, a range nothing else here matches and frequently the deciding factor for data residency or air gapped sites. Verified capability covers fault detection, anomaly detection, energy metering, water and gas, documented API, dashboards, building system integration, reporting and tariff analysis, which is the widest verified set of any fault detection product reviewed.
The reasons people leave are structural, not functional. SkySpark is a platform and toolkit rather than a finished application, and buyers expecting to subscribe and log in to a complete product have misunderstood what they are buying. More importantly, it is sold almost entirely through value added resellers, distributors and OEMs rather than direct, with SkyFoundry citing more than 140 partners worldwide. Resellers bundle the software with implementation services, training and support, and on smaller projects professional services can exceed the licence. No prices and no licence terms are published anywhere, so the licensing model, renewal basis and any point or data volume limits must be obtained in writing from the partner. The practical consequence is that two SkySpark deployments can differ enormously: the rules actually configured, the quality of the work and the support all depend on who implemented it. Your reference checks should be on the integrator rather than on SkyFoundry.
One gap SkySpark shares with its competitors: no protocol list is published. The vendor pages mention live links to automation systems and smart meters, SQL databases, Excel and utility web service feeds, plus Project Haystack, but no BACnet, Modbus, MQTT or OPC support is named. Alternatives below are split between finished FDD applications, direct purchase suites, and energy analytics platforms for buyers who discover the real requirement was never fault rules.

The alternatives, and why they are here
Selected on capability and use case rather than on sharing a category label. Each entry says what actually differs.
Clockworks Analytics
Clockworks Analytics
Fault detection and diagnostics platform for building systems that plugs into existing building systems and ranks diagnostics by avoidable cost. Includes an information model, expert system diagnostics, condition based maintenance and an AI assistant.
Why consider it: The same job delivered as a finished application rather than a toolkit. Diagnostics are ranked by avoidable cost, expert system diagnostics name likely causes, and a documented REST API drives a two way CMMS work order integration that writes the work order identifier back and keeps status in step. Bought directly rather than through resellers. What does not carry over: no on premises, edge or desktop deployment, no 500 plus function library or custom rule engine, and no tariff analysis, water and gas or metering verified.

CopperTree Kaizen
CopperTree Analytics
SaaS supervisory analytics platform combining fault detection and diagnostics with an energy management and information system, plus an automated commissioning module. Native BACnet device support in the current ACx firmware.
Why consider it: A closer like for like on scope, combining fault detection and diagnostics with an energy management and information system, plus an automated commissioning module that tests 100 percent of systems with a timestamped action log for commissioning authorities. Native BACnet device support is explicitly stated, which SkySpark does not publish. What does not carry over: current ACx firmware supports native BACnet only and not non BACnet equipment, a hardware appliance is required per site, and no documented API, tariff analysis or water and gas verified.

Noda
Noda
Agentic AI platform for commercial building operations, the successor to Aquicore. Analyses BMS trend, meter and weather data to detect faults, trace root causes and package fixes as costed projects, with automated demand management.
Why consider it: The AI led alternative, analysing BMS trend, meter and weather data to detect faults, trace root causes and package fixes as costed projects, with automated demand management plus a published GraphQL API, a Model Context Protocol server and a LaunchPad gateway for BMS connections. What does not carry over: no on premises or edge deployment, no custom rule engine, no tariff analysis or water and gas verified, and the ownership chain behind the Aquicore rebrand could not be confirmed.

Spacewell Energy
Spacewell (Nemetschek Group)
Cloud energy management platform, formerly DEXMA, now part of Spacewell within the Nemetschek Group. Collects 15 minute data, runs AI anomaly detection and benchmarks against a database of more than 50,000 facilities.
Why consider it: A cross class option where the real need is energy analytics rather than fault rules: 15 minute data, AI anomaly detection, carbon reporting, documented API and webhooks, mobile access, benchmarking against more than 50,000 facilities and published tiers. Bought directly, with tier limits you can model. What does not carry over: no fault detection or diagnostic rule library, no on premises or edge deployment, and no tariff analysis verified.

What this page is not
This is not a ranking and there is no single best alternative. The right choice depends on what you are replacing and why, which is why each entry states a specific reason rather than a score. Capability values come from each product's structured profile, where anything unverified is labelled as such rather than assumed.
