GEP Quantum Intelligence versus Zycus: two suites that tell you very little you can check
Both are source-to-pay suites spanning intake, sourcing, contracting, supplier management, requisition to purchase order, invoicing and analytics. Neither is an ERP or a general ledger. Neither publishes a price. Neither publishes an API reference. Both are pitched at the enterprise with no small or mid-market path. The differences that matter are about naming, evidence quality and what each one will not tell you.
Start with the name, because it has changed. The product this directory previously listed as GEP SMART is now GEP Quantum Intelligence. As of 7 November 2026 the URL gep.com/software/gep-smart serves the Quantum Intelligence product page with no mention of GEP SMART, and the same page is served at the GEP NEXXE URL. GEP site navigation lists only two software products, Quantum Intelligence and GEP E-Invoicing. No rebrand announcement was found anywhere in the GEP newsroom and the rename could not be independently corroborated, so the lineage here is observed from the live site rather than announced. Anyone holding GEP SMART documentation or contracts should confirm current naming with GEP. Zycus, by contrast, markets at suite level rather than by product name, leading with a claim to be the only source-to-pay platform built for autonomous procurement, with an agentic layer branded the Merlin Agentic Platform.

Full profileThe main differences
Zycus is the better evidenced on sourcing evaluation. It states full-source RFx events with multiple rounds and best-and-final-offer negotiations, bids compared side by side and line by line across every round, and weighted scoring on price, quality, delivery, ESG and risk through what it calls Transformative Bid evaluation. On the transactional side it states purchase orders created automatically from approved purchase requests, catalog or non-catalog, including blanket purchase orders; policy, thresholds and approvals at every step; full catalogue lifecycle management with AI classification; invoices matched only to what was accepted; and suppliers viewing, confirming and updating purchase orders in a portal. GEP states RFx, a Negotiation Agent that evaluates bids and surfaces the strongest suppliers side by side against your value drivers, n-way invoice matching, real-time budget checks and policy enforcement embedded in every transaction, punch-out catalogues and predicted approval paths.
GEP is the better evidenced on integration. It publishes the longest named connector list in this category: SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, Oracle, NetSuite, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics, DocuSign, Power BI, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Infor, Basware, Coupa, JAGGAER, Ivalua, Ironclad, Icertis, Adobe Sign, Amazon Business, Snowflake, Databricks, Tableau, Looker, Palantir and Alteryx, with Model Context Protocol as its stated integration layer and support for business units running different ERPs. Zycus names SAP, Oracle, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics and NetSuite, but from an FAQ answer rather than a technical page, with SAP appearing generically and no statement about S/4HANA versus ECC. Note that GEP never mentions REST, so a documented REST API cannot be claimed for it either.
Named gaps on both sides. For GEP, no public API or developer documentation exists anywhere on gep.com, no supplier portal is described as a product feature, and no clause library is mentioned under contract management. The supplier portal absence is notable because five of the six large suites here state one plainly. For Zycus, no public API or developer documentation exists either; AppXtend appears in the product navigation but no documentation was reachable. Zycus is the thin record in this pairing on two specific cells: eAuctions are named in the e-sourcing FAQ but given no description at all, and budget control appears only as a within-budget indicator in a requisition screenshot. Both are recorded as supported while resting on a single unelaborated mention. Neither vendor site blocked automated access, so these gaps are genuine disclosure gaps rather than access problems, which is a different and arguably worse finding than the 403 walls elsewhere in this category. Zycus also states a boundary in its own words: with ERP integration, goods receipt and payment remain in the ERP as the system of record.
One GEP-specific warning. GEP sells software, consulting and outsourcing as three separate lines, and spend analysis, strategic sourcing, category management, tail-spend management, procure-to-pay, accounts payable and invoice auditing all exist both as software modules in Quantum Intelligence and as human-delivered services. A proposal promising spend analysis may be delivering it with people rather than with the platform. Confirm which you are buying.

Read the full assessmentWhich to choose
Choose Zycus if sourcing evaluation rigour is the deciding factor and you want weighted scoring across ESG and risk criteria stated plainly, or if an affirmative ownership position matters: Zycus is the only vendor in this category with a published statement of independence, saying in a 2014 release that it would remain self-funded and privately held with no venture capital funding, with an independent 2019 credit rating rationale recording Zycus Infotech Private Limited as incorporated September 1997 and promoted by Aatish Dedhia. Note the independence statement has never been reaffirmed and no primary ownership document after 2019 could be found. Choose GEP if you run business units on different ERPs and the published connector list plus Model Context Protocol is worth real money, or if you want the option to pair software with GEP own outsourcing under one accountability chain. GEP ownership, by contrast, is genuinely unresolved: the legal entity is NB Ventures, Inc. trading as GEP, and no source names any shareholder, backer, funding round or stake sale.
Rule both out if price transparency, a trial, or pre-purchase integration diligence matters. And if auctions or constraint-based award optimisation are central, look at JAGGAER, Ivalua or Keelvar, all of which publish far more auction detail than either of these two.
Frequently asked questions
Not under that name. As of 7 November 2026 the URL gep.com/software/gep-smart serves the GEP Quantum Intelligence page with no mention of GEP SMART, and the same page is served at the GEP NEXXE URL. Site navigation lists only Quantum Intelligence and GEP E-Invoicing. No rebrand announcement was found, so confirm current naming with GEP before relying on older documentation or contract references.
eAuctions are named in the Zycus e-sourcing FAQ, but no description or format list is given and the term reverse auction is not used, so this is thinly evidenced. GEP states an Auction Agent using live auctions and lists e-auctions in its FAQ, also without format detail. If auctions are central, press both vendors for specifics and compare against JAGGAER, Ivalua and Keelvar.
Neither. No public API or developer documentation exists on gep.com or on zycus.com. GEP names Model Context Protocol and an Integration Agent as its integration standard and never mentions REST. Zycus has AppXtend in its product navigation but no reachable documentation. Neither site blocked automated access, so these are disclosure gaps rather than access problems.
Both, and the distinction matters commercially. GEP sells software, consulting, and procurement and supply chain outsourcing. Spend analysis, strategic sourcing, category management, tail spend, procure-to-pay and accounts payable all appear both as software modules and as human-delivered services, so confirm which one a proposal is actually offering.
